Welcome back PK-8 Coyotes!
We hope you had a wonderful and beautiful Thanksgiving week with loved ones. We can't wait to see all our students back Monday, December 2. The next few weeks are always so exciting for all of us and are going to go by quickly. Did you know that December 2nd will mark only 14 days until Winter Break? To help get into the spirit of the season, we want to encourage all our students to participate in the 12 Days Countdown by dressing up. You can find the dress-up calendar as well as other important days at the bottom of the newsletter.
Below are a few reminders & updates for our school.
Tornillo ISD Turns 100 Years old!
We'd love to invite you and your family to the multiple Centennial celebrations this winter season in honor of Tornillo ISD turning 100 years old! Over the next few weeks, our district will be hosting a tree lighting ceremony, Dinner Theater, the annual Community Luminarias, and student performances. Check out the flyers below for more information.
6th Weeks Grades & After School Tutoring
This Friday, will be the last day of the six weeks grading period. We always encourage you to communicate with your child's teacher regularly to ensure that your child is making academic and social progress or anytime that you have questions.
December 12th will be the last day of after school tutoring for our 3rd-8th grade students.
Winter Student Performances
We are excited to announce the schedule for our student performances. Please see the flyer attached for detailed information.
PK-8 Cold Weather Clothing Drive
This holiday season, our students will be learning about being thankful and giving to others. In order to help those in need, our school is holding a drive to collect cold weather clothing items such as gloves, scarves, blankets, and winter coats. The items donated can be new or gently used.
Laptop & IPAD Care
Parents, we have had an increase in damaged IPADS and laptops by students. Please remind your child about the importance of device care. Students use their devices daily and when it is damaged, they may go a few days without it.
Device Care:
-Keep Sticker Free
-Use Clean Hands
-Recharge your Device Overnight
-Keep Food & Drinks Away
-Device is only for student use (don't let others use your equipement)
-Report any damages immediately to the library
PK-8 Fundraiser - Will you help us raise some "dough" for our school?
Our PK-8 coyotes will be selling Krispy Kreme cards to help fundraise for student and teacher incentives. Your contribution helps us purchase items such as books for our Book vending machine, science lab consumable materials, Attendance Awards, Reading Awards, and incentives for our PBIS store.
Stop by the front office to purchase your Krispy Kreme card. More details found below.
PK-8 Attendance
We take a lot of pride in our attendance at our school. Please help us maintain it at 98%!
1. When your child is absent, please send the doctor's note or parent note within 48 hours.
2. A student will receive a tardy slip every time they arrive late.
3. When your child is absent, please expect a phone call from our front office or your child's teacher to ensure that your child is ok.
