Hillsboro Highlights - November 24
From the Desk of Dr. Darrell Brown
Dear Hillsboro ISD Families and Staff,
I hope everyone enjoyed a restful and meaningful Thanksgiving Break with family and friends. Thanksgiving is a time to reflect on what you are grateful for. At Hillsboro ISD, I am thankful for our students, staff, families, and community members who work together to achieve our mission of preparing todayās students for tomorrowās world.
The next three weeks are focused on important learning check-ins, including End-of-Course (EOC) Exams, Midterms, and Curriculum-Based Assessments (CBAs). These help us gauge where students are in their learning journey and identify areas for growth. Consistent attendance is crucial to ensure students stay on track and are prepared for whatās ahead.
Thank you to everyone who participated in the calendar feedback survey. The results will be shared with the District Educational Improvement Committee (DEIC) this week and will help guide discussions about next yearās academic calendar.
We appreciate your continued support of Hillsboro ISD and look forward to finishing the year strong.
Sincerely,
Darrell G. Brown, Ph.D.

CTE Business Spotlight
This school year, we are recognizing our incredible industry partners who are helping our Career and Technical Education (CTE) Pathway students grow and explore potential careers. In November, we had the privilege of highlighting two outstanding businesses:
KHBR
- The local radio and newspaper company is mentoring a Hillsboro High School student in the Digital Communications CTE Pathway of Study. Several times a week, the student visits the station to observe the morning radio show and learn the process of creating a live broadcast. This partnership offers a meaningful look into the world of radio broadcasting.
Sage Blooms
- A Hillsboro High School student in the Plant Science CTE Pathway of Study is honing her floral design skills at Sage Blooms. From crafting bouquets and centerpieces to learning the daily operations of a floral shop, she is gaining hands-on knowledge of this creative industry. The Plant Science pathway leads to exciting opportunities in fields such as floral design, landscaping, plant science, and biological technology.
