• Mark your calendar with the FUN days for Healthy Choices Week!

We are beginning to have snips of cooler weather, and then in the afternoon, it's warm! My family spent the weekend in the Smoky Mountains of Tennessee, and we enjoyed fall colors, sweatshirts in the evening by the fire, and WILDLIFE! We spent some time walking bridges, hiking, and being together. Our home overlooked many trees, and we saw turkeys, chipmunks, and lots of black bears! We got up one morning to find bear paw prints on our car door. (and we thought they were teasing us when they said to lock your cars). In Texas, we're seeing children come to school with a jacket in the morning and shorts in the afternoon! I would encourage each family to check coats, jackes, and sweaters for their child 's name. Label everything your child could possibly take off!

This week is "Healthy Choices" week and a great time to talk with your child about the importance of coming to school, eating healthy snacks, exercising, and getting 8-10 hours of sleep each night! We will be hosting a few assemblies/performances along with stomping out hate with blubonnet seeds so be sure to mark your calendar with all of these events! Hisle Hounds howl loud and proud.

Our fourth grade students are excited to share various cultural celebrations on November 1st. We would like to invite our 4th grade families to join us in our Culture Celebration on Friday, November 1 at 8:30 AM in the Hisle MPR. To allow for our students to also see this event we are limiting public attendance to those with 4th grade Hisle students.

We are beginning to prepare for Veterans Day. If you or a family member served in the armed forces can you please email the following to Brittany.Areias@leanderisd.org by Friday, November 1 so we can honor them?

• Veterans Name
• Branch they served
• Hisle Student(s) they are related to and the relation (ie: parent, grandparent, aunt)
• A picture of the veteran

We're excited to host our first Turkey Trot, and families are more than welcome to join in the fun. It will take place during typical specials time (except for 1st grade 11:30-12:40). Children will "trot" for 50 minutes, and we hope about a mile! Coach Washburn and Coach Hugo will start the Turkey Trot in the gym with expecations! It promises to be a GREAT day of running!
