Viking Newsletter 6/6/25
Justin Zunino, STHS Principal
HELLO, VIKINGS!
Between Senior Awards Night, the Great Gatsby Party, Ally's 20th Anniversary, and Senior Picnic, it's been a week! A huge congratulations also goes out to so many of our juniors this week! They were recognized for "Honors" and "Top Honors," and another dozen for exemplifying aspects of our Viking Graduate Profile. Well done, juniors!
On Monday, June 9th, during FLEX, SENIORS will take a field trip to their alma mater's elementary school and parade the halls in their cap and gown. It's a new tradition that was really fun and popular last year with the "littles" and "big kids."
Seniors and Families of Seniors: Please see important information below about Friday's ceremony.

3rd Annual Great Gatsby Party with Ms. Tillson
On June 3rd, STHS 11th grade students attended the 3rd annual Great Gatsby party and Tahoe History event at the Tallac Historic site. In English 11, students read The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald which celebrated its 100th birthday in April of 2025. STHS students had the unique opportunity to immerse themselves in the rich history of Lake Tahoe, learning about its vibrant 1920s era and the legends that continue to live on. STHS juniors toured the historic estate grounds, listened to fascinating stories of the past, and gained a deeper appreciation for the cultural and historical significance of the area. The spirit of the Roaring Twenties came alive through dancing with Mrs. Rasmussen's choreography of 1920s era music and dance instruction; meticulously decorating the gorgeous venue with Mrs. Ferguson's CTE Event Planning class; wearing themed attire provided by past year's grant monies; providing small bites from both Raley's and our STHS Boosters; and touring the historic Pope and Baldwin estates with volunteer docents provided by the Great Basin Institute where students learned a bit of Lake Tahoe's history and fun urban legends.
Thanks to the generosity of our STHS Boosters, Raley's, Valhalla, Great Basin Institute, and the Marcella Foundation! Our students not only had fun but also walked away inspired and more connected to the local history and community. Your support helps us provide meaningful, enriching experiences that go beyond the classroom—and for that, we are sincerely thankful.
