GRADUATION NEWSLETTER
CLASS OF 2024
CLASS OF 2024
Dear Parents/Guardians of the Class of 2024:
Graduation is quickly approaching. The following information outlines everything graduates need to know about the event. Please take the time to read through this information with your son or daughter so that you are aware of the timeline for all senior activities and deadlines. Mid-year graduates must fulfill all checkout and graduation practice requirements as well.
Graduation is an especially poignant time for our students and their parents because it signifies the end of their public educational process, the commencement of adult responsibilities, and the excitement of future educational endeavors. It is also a time for our students to reflect upon how their family, friends, and teachers have contributed so much to make this day possible. Students should behave with dignity and respect.
We are committed to having a dignified commencement exercise, and we know that with your help, it will be memorable for our graduates and their families. Please do not bring foghorns or balloon bouquets to the Mesa Performing Arts Center as a courtesy to other families and friends who want to hear and see the ceremony.
We are proud to announce the Class of 2024 graduation ceremony will be streamed live via the Skyline Prep Facebook page for loved ones who are unable to attend in person.
SPHS administration, faculty, and staff are extremely proud of this graduating class of 2024. These young adults have achieved remarkable goals and set a high standard for future Bengals through their examples of leadership and community.
Be on the lookout for more info and graduation ticket pickup info soon.
Sincerely,
Principal Gant

Graduation Regalia
The basic package required includes a black gown, black cap, orange sash, and orange/black tassel. Any additional graduation items are at your discretion. The order will be delivered to Prep to help Ms. Alicia keep track of who has/has not ordered.
Cap Decorations
- Do:
- Be sure your decorations are primarily 2D, not rising more than 1/4 inch above the mortarboard
- Be sure your decorations only cover the top (mortarboard) of your cap
- Honor your family, heritage, school club or team affiliation, graduation year, or post-secondary destination (university, community college, armed forces branch, vocational school, etc.)
- Keep it school appropriate
- Do NOT:
- Use distinctly 3D decorations that stand more than 1/4 inch high
- Use decorations that hang over the edge of the mortarboard, make noise, have lights or otherwise distract from your regalia
- Use decorations that contain any advertisement, symbols, abbreviations, initials, words, slogans, patches, or pictures that: refer to drugs or controlled substances, tobacco, alcohol, weapons, or are of a sexual nature
- Use decorations that denote an affiliation with gangs, or which advocate drug use, violence, illegal activity, or disruptive behavior which is detrimental to the safety and welfare of other students
- Your failure to comply with the above stated rules will result in your cap being disallowed, which equals removal from our graduation ceremony (no cap means no walk).
- Our "Do NOT" list pretty much covers it all, but may not be all-inclusive. Therefore, it is highly recommend that you bring in your decorated cap (or a sketch of your decorations) prior to graduation night. All caps will be inspected and approved by the administration just prior to walking - all admin decisions are final regarding caps.
Graduation Cords & Sashes
Senior members, in good standing, of the Ronda S. Owens Academic Honors Program, National Honor Society, and Skyline Scholars will be recognized by wearing organization cords. Skyline Prep will gift these cords to students in honor of their achievements. Prep will also gift our Class Valedictorian and Class Salutatorian their medals.
- CUSTOM SASHES
- Tribal (federally recognized tribes) and Cultural/Ethnicity affiliated sashes are allowed in addition to your orange Skyline Prep sash. ALL affiliated/organizational sashes must be brought to the administration for approval PRIOR to graduation day.
