Holocaust Remembrance Day
May 6, 2024
May 6 is International Holocaust Remembrance Day. In Hebrew, Holocaust Remembrance Day is called Yom Hashoah. Throughout the world ceremonies commence honoring the 6 million Jewish lives that were lost or persecuted by the Nazi's in WWII. In 1980, Congress made a bipartisan decision to have the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum lead in the ceremony of remembrance in Washington D.C. Listed below is the website of the United States Holocaust Museum, which educates us in this tragedy. They also post the ceremony in Washington D.C.
The BHMS library has books posted on our feature wall educating us on this tragic events of history, in hopes that it never happens again.

The Kumeyaay-Ipai Interpretive Center of Pauwai (Poway) is a five acre site rich in the local history of the Kumeyaay-Ipai Indian tribes. Follow the trails past ramadas, interpretive signage, native gardens and a replica of an 'ewaa (native Kumeyaay house). Morteros (grinding stones) left by the original Kumeyaay inhabitants still remain on this historic site. Also visit the Education Center to view artifacts and other interesting historical items and photos.
