The Walden Weekly
September 13, 2024
Hello Walden Families!
Our Walden students had a great week of school. We practiced our first fire drill on Wednesday and our students followed protocols very well while evacuating the building safely. We were then prepared for Thursdays more unexpected fire alarm, which has all been resolved.
We also enjoyed seeing our sharp-dressing Wildcats on Thursday for picture day. If you choose, there are retakes available for students in November.
We hope you have a wonderful weekend and we'll see you on Monday!

We’ll see you at the Deerfield Farmers Market!
On Saturday, September 21st, we will have a booth at the farmers market, which so happens to also kick off the Harvest Fest! We’re excited to have our superintendent join us, along with a few board of education members. There will be a coloring table, stickers, and an EyeSpy game. If your eye spies all the listed items, there may be a special prize! We look forward to seeing you there!
Walden's Upcoming Authors Visit! (2nd Posting)
The LMC is excited to welcome authors Ann and Ben Brashares on Friday, September 20! They will tell our 4th and 5th grade students about their new book, an alternate history novel full of action and suspense.
You can order personalized autographed copies of the book by Wednesday, September 18. Orders are through The Book Stall, the independent bookstore that organizes these free author visits for our school: https://www.thebookstall.com/ann-and-ben-brashares-visit-chicago-area-schools
See more information on the attachment below.
Reminder: Please complete info verification! (2nd Posting)
As last week's events have shown us, we need to be able to reach you in case of unexpected news! Some families still need to complete the quick process of verifying their information for this year. It's also an easy way to read and acknowledge our handbook and review district opt-out forms. Please head to Skyward to get started today!
