Message from Administration
Parents,
Welcome to another fabulous school year! We are thrilled to begin the school year and we welcome our returning families as well as all of our new families. Thank you for choosing Stone Oak Elementary!
The 2018-2019 school year's theme is Time To Be Kind! Please join us in using this phrase along with the 7 Habits leadership vocabulary. You will often hear us asking students, "What time is it?" and they will respond with, "Time to be Kind!"
As mentioned in our end of the year newsletter in June, our campus will be receiving video monitoring at the front entrance with a push button entrance. So that we keep safety at the forefront, please do not let others in the door when you are buzzed in. Each 'buzz in' is for that one person only. Please be patient as well as it will take time for you to be buzzed into the school.
The doors will be unlocked during arrival in the morning and will automatically lock at 7:40 a.m. You must be buzzed in after 7:40 a.m., walk your child into the school, and sign them in. Any parent who has to sign their child in after 7:40 a.m. will be counted as a tardy.
We have also made changes to our dismissal process. Please read below for more information.
As we kick off the new school year's theme, Time to Be Kind! it is important to note how closely this fits in with Habit 1: Be Proactive. To be proactive means that we choose our actions, attitudes, and moods. We do the right thing without being asked, even when no one is looking. This is a great reminder to all of us to strive to be the best leader possible!
By beginning with the end in mind, your child will be setting goals in the classroom with their teacher. We set new goals every year so that we teach our students to keep reaching their highest potential. Your child will have a Leadership Notebook that they will use to keep track of their goals and progress on reaching their goal. At Stone Oak Elementary, every teacher has a goal, every classroom has a goal, every grade level has a goal, and we also have school-wide goals. It is important that we all keep growing together and continue to have a strong work ethic. As long as we all work together, anything is possible!
Please remember that we must put first things first by keeping all of our students safe, by making instructional time a priority, and by keeping our Attendance up. Having your child at school every single day is important. Please make attendance a priority in your home. Please remember that we have had some changes in regards to safety protocols and we must synergize in order to make the changes seamless, as this will be a win-win for us all.
Let's make this another great school year and remember it is Time To Be Kind!
Sincerely,
Mrs. Smith, Principal and Mrs. Nunez, Assistant Principal
