March
Dear Parkwood Families,
I hope this newsletter finds you well! We're excited to share some updates and reminders as we continue through this wonderful month of March.
Important Reminders
🗓️ Half Day Alert: This Wednesday, March 12th, is a half day for K-5th grade students. Please make necessary arrangements for early pick-up.
⚠️ PEEP Students: There will be no school for PEEP students on Wednesday, March 12th.
- Kindergarten/PreK Enrollment- Thank you to everyone who came to kindergarten/peep orientation. If you have an incoming kindergarten/prek student or know someone with an upcoming student, we encourage you to enroll them now through our online enrollment! Feel free to call our office or stop by if you have enrollment questions.
- School of Choice- Reminder that this year we will not be doing letter's of intent. Instead a form was emailed to families a few weeks ago that said school of choice. This is only to be completed if you are requesting a different building then the one you are currently enrolled at. Otherwise you don't have to do anything and your students will continue at their current assigned building. These are due by this Friday, March 14th!
- Progress Reports- Will be coming out soon. Keep an eye out for an email with more information and updates to your child's Powerschool Portal.
- Conferences- Family/Teacher collaboration is so important and valuable in supporting a child's learning journey! That's why we aim for 100% conference attendance. I will attach the conference sign up links below if you still need to sign up. Feel free to reach out to the office or your child's teacher if you have questions.
As always, we appreciate your support and involvement in our school community. Your partnership is crucial in making Parkwood Elementary a wonderful place for our children to learn and grow.
I hope everyone had a great weekend! Please don't hesitate to reach out if you have any questions.

April 9th Mobile and Dental Visits
The Family Health Center provides all KPS schools with mobile medical and dental units visits during the year. These visits cover both medical (annual well-child visits, immunizations, and care for chronic conditions like asthma) and dental preventive care (twice-yearly dental cleanings, exams, and sealants). Parkwood-Upjohn's visit has been rescheduled to Wednesday, April 9. We currently have only 12 students signed up for medical and 7 for dental. It would be a shame for them to cancel due to low enrollment. To register your child electronically please click the following link: ENGLISH & SPANISH: https://form.jotform.com/231327122384146. If your child currently does NOT have health insurance, then students cannot be seen. To enroll for MI Bridges, click: Medicaid. If you prefer a paper registration form, please e-mail Marie Geiken-Perez with Communities in Schools at geikenperezmc@kalamazoopublicschools.net." Each family that successfully enrolls for the Family Health Center's mobile units will be entered into a drawing for a $25 Meijer gift card!
