Bring the Energy
The Superintendent's Blog
Dr. John Schwartz
Starting school with cool weather brings an immediate feeling of autumn days. I’m sure our bands have certainly appreciated it as they practice their routines. I’m enjoying the sounds of early morning rehearsal in Buell Stadium as I type.
It has been an amazing start to the school year. As I look through all the social media posts, I am grateful for our families, teachers, and staff for bringing the energy. No one knows better than an educator that how you begin is a good indication of where you will end. Positive energy invites students in, engages them in the moment, and encourages them to try.
Millard is rooted in education, and we know how you plant the seeds of learning matters. The rigors of the school year can be challenging. We are a district that takes pride in high standards because we believe all students can learn and grow. It’s one of the long-standing belief statements of our strategic plan. Another Millard belief is achievement builds confidence; confidence promotes achievement. It’s a positive loop spinning upward, and I appreciate our community starting us off right.
Today marks the first week of school. I’ve made it a point to be in schools as much as I can these first few days, and I have observed our incredible staff engaging with students and reestablishing important routines. Check out the sights and sounds of the first day below. Thank you for bringing the energy. It is going to be an outstanding year.
