ELC students tested the effectiveness of the summer hats they created in school! A much-needed source of shade during the summer heat.
Summer Fun
More summer fun at the ELC!
Staying Cool in the Heat!
Ms. Stacey set up some indoor water play last week to beat the heat!
MARY C. BURKE ELEMENTARY COMPLEX
FKO
Students at the CPS and FKO summer program worked on putting the final touches on their restaurants, making menus, food, and posters! For the past few weeks students were asked to come up with an idea for a restaurant. They could be creative in what they served and the menus they came up with. The students then worked on pricing and designing the interior of their buildings. We can't wait to see the final products!
Students in the 1st and 2nd grade worked on testing different materials to create bubble wands for their Museum of Science activity time. After all the testing this week we can't wait to see what cool designs they come up with!
GirlsStart
GirlsStart had its first meet up today! The girls got to know each other and the instructors. They worked on creating plastic from materials you would find around your kitchen!
MIDDLE SCHOOL & HIGH SCHOOL PROGRAMS
Middle School Acceleration Academy
In STEM, students have been creating prosthetic limbs for animals and this week concentrated on fish tails. In the humanities, students are still working on their project about themselves ahead of presentations this Thursday. In Art, students have nearly finished their self portraits and in Project Adventure they have been competing with each other to build the tallest towers, bridges and worked on designing security devices for the country. The students are not only learning but are working really hard and having fun!
MS / HS ML Summer Enrichment Program
MS / HS ML Summer Enrichment Program is finishing its third week.
Last Friday, rising 9th graders and high school students took a trip to the Chelsea Police Station and Salt Park. Teachers are continuously creating opportunities for students to get to know their community.
Grades 5, 6, and 7 are practicing English using Flashlight 360 platform that enables them to engage actively in all domains of language learning: listening, speaking, reading, and writing. They also have an hour each day to work on their Math skills using the Teacher Created Material ( TCM ) curriculum.
HS Credit Recovery teachers are working hard to help students complete their requirements for the next school year and for their graduation.
Summer REACH
Summer REACH Week 2 was filled with summer fun, team building games and learning about effective communication! Our Week 2 field trip was to Extreme Craze Woburn, where students enjoyed an afternoon of gaming and laser tag!
