Fire Program Demo Kicks Off Town Hall
MHS students had a lesson in civic engagement last week when Senator Merkley held a community town hall in the gym.
Students in the Fire & Emergency Services pathway held a short demo for the senator before the event began, and ASB students Lila Primozich and Vivi Garibay and SOAR student Camden Parsons were chosen to ask a question during the meeting.
Other SOAR and/or Visual Pathway students who attended, hoping to ask a question, included Ava Bizon, Cody Davis and Jesse Hardee. See the MSD Facebook page for more photos.
Mac High’s Choir Heads to State
Yesterday, the Symphonic Choir performed a pop-up concert as a last rehearsal before heading to the OSAA state competition at Oregon State University on Saturday. This is the first time the choir has qualified for the state championships for several years.
Soloists Megan Gladwill (pictured), Damaris Quiroz and Esther Arellano Garcia, along with percussionists Eli Meek and Alex Keleher, were featured on Papa Loko, a traditional Haitian song.

Art Students Recognized
Congratulations to two Mac High students, senior Isley Blackburn and junior Eliana James, who were chosen to display their work in the Oregon Potters’ Association’s Scholarship Showcase.
Eliana James and her piece, “Her Name is Jane,” won the top prize and a $1000 scholarship. She said, "Jane is a reference to all the unnamed women, the Jane Does, that have had vulnerability forced out of them and left broken open and unnamed." The work was selected from more than 50 student pieces from 20 different high schools around Oregon and Washington.
