Tiger Day - Field Day
The last days of the school year are approaching, which means we are getting ready for FIELD DAY!!! The TRMS Staff will host a day of fun, food, and friendship on Monday, May 20th during their Connection periods.
Here's a sneak peek at what we have planned:
- **Sports Galore**: Basketball, soccer, volleyball, foursquare, and even a video game room!
- **Digital Photo Booth**: Capture memories with friends and classmates.
- **Inflatable Slide & Obstacle Course**: Get ready for some adrenaline-pumping fun!
- **Concession Stands**: Indulge in delicious treats like Dippin' Dots, cotton candy, assorted sodas, candy, and chips.
Things to remember:
- Students may want to consider sunscreen, as most events will take place outside.
- Students will need cash to be able to buy refreshments. Parents are encouraged to send $5 to $10 with their child on Field Day
- When determining how much cash to send with your students, keep in mind that:
- Tickets for refreshments can be purchased for a dollar each.
- Refreshment items typically cost one to four tickets.
We are so excited for a fun-filled field day. Please let us know if you have any questions.

Ronald McDonald House Fundraiser
From May 13 through May 17 Taylor Road Middle School will be holding a fundraiser for the Ronald McDonald House in Atlanta. This is a charity dedicated to caring for families with children who are ill or injured. They provide housing near hospitals to keep families close during a child's medical crisis and help reduce stress and financial burden during this difficult time. Our goal is to raise $1000 per grade so that we can donate $3000 from Taylor Road Middle School.
This week we will have a schoolwide Penny War. To help your homeroom win a cookie party, bring in pennies and dollar bills to put in the jar in your homeroom. Fives, tens and twenties are great, too! But wait! You can sabotage the other homerooms to make sure that you win by placing silver change- that would be nickels, dimes and quarters- in the donation jar of OTHER homerooms. This will SUBTRACT points from their total. So bring in your change and your dollar bills all week and win your homeroom an ice cream or cookie party! Each grade will have a winning homeroom!

Hello 8th Grade Parents

Parents of Students Taking High School Level Courses
Today, you should have received an email from Infinite Campus via Mr. Parker about accepting or rejecting the high school credit for the eligible course(s) your students are taking. This only applies to courses in which the students earn high school credit.
You have the option of accepting the grade for the course (and the credit) or rejecting the credit. When you reject the credit, your student will need to retake the course for credit and for a grade. The grade for a declined course will not affect the student's high school grade point average. This is an option only for middle school students who attempt high school level classes.
You can respond to the email using the link in the letter now by using the first semester grade and the current grade or you can wait until grades are posted on the transcripts (June 1st). There is a deadline to respond if you wish to decline the credit for your student.
Please talk to your student's counselor if you have any questions.
End-of-Year Clinic Information
Please remember to pick up any medication that your child may have in the clinic by dismissal on the last day of school. Any medication left in the clinic by the end of the school day will be disposed of. Also, remember that a new Medication Authorization forms and/or Heath Care Plan for your child will need to be completed by you and your Physician every school year. You can retrieve new forms at:

Meet Our Summit Counselor
Greetings, TRMS Community!
I would like to introduce myself as your School-Based Mental Health Therapist Nehemiah McClendon, M. ED, NCC, LAPC
I am here at your service to help your child with navigating the challenges of academic life while also addressing personal emotional needs can be overwhelming. I am returning for my second year here at TRMS and am thrilled to continue to do great and impactful work with our students. During my tenor at TRMS I have collaboratively worked with administration and teachers to provide individual, group and famly services for TRMS community.
As a therapist I Can Help:
🌟 Individualized Support: I recognize that every student is unique. With one-on-one sessions tailored to each student's personal experiences, allowing for a deep exploration of thoughts and feelings.
🌟 Anxiety and Stress Management: From exam jitters to social pressures, anxiety can take a toll on a student's well-being. I’m working to equip students with practical strategies to manage anxiety and stress effectively.
🌟 Depression Coping Skills: Depression can cast a shadow over even the brightest moments. Our therapist provides tools and techniques to help students regain a sense of control, build resilience, and find joy in their daily lives.
🌟 Emotional Awareness: Our therapist guides students in understanding their emotions, helping them to recognize triggers and respond to challenging situations in healthy ways.
🌟 Supportive Environment: Sometimes, all it takes is a listening ear. Therapy can create a judgment-free space where students can express themselves openly and honestly.
Mental health matters. I believe that seeking support is a sign of strength, and I’m here to help break down stigmas associated with mental health challenges. By providing an accessible platform for students to engage in conversations about their well-being, we aim to create a culture of acceptance, empathy, and understanding.
How to Get Started:
Speak to Your Child: Initiate a conversation with your child about their feelings and emotions. Let them know that our therapist is here to provide guidance and support.
Contact Us: Reach out to our school's counseling department to express your interest in connecting your child with our therapist.
