Grade Level Messages 🔊
Algebra 1 - Students are currently working on writing, graphing, and analyzing quadratic equations. Soon we will be moving towards solving quadratics as well. The students have also started a project where they will have to find examples of parabolas in real life. After Spring Break we will begin reviewing for the Algebra MCAP (they will not be taking the 7th grade test). If students would like to start reviewing at home they can feel free to work on the MCAP Practice Tests for fun :)
REMINDER: Bowie Baysox STEM Day Field trip on Friday May 1. Please get permission slips in by Apr 8, 2024. FalconCamps and RoboCamps, these programs are designed to help students gain skills in math, engineering, and computer science through interactive sessions.
RoboCamps is a week-long in-person initiative at Clarksburg High School that teaches core STEM skills as campers learn how to design, build, and program a robot using pre-designed VEX IQ kits. This program culminates in a final competition so students can demonstrate their programming proficiency and concept understanding while competing for special prizes.
FalconCamps is a week-long online initiative that teaches mechanical design and/or programming in the context of competitive robotics, covering technical skills such as computer-aided design or object-oriented programming. This program prepares students to join a competitive robotics team and encourages them to pursue a future in STEM. More information may be found on the camps page of their website.
Summer Basketball Program at Mid County Community Recreation Center
This program will take place on Tuesday nights and is open to both boys and girls that are rising 6th graders through rising 8th graders. It will provide a fantastic opportunity for players to hone their skills, bond with teammates and friends, and have fun in a competitive yet supportive environment.
Here are the key details of the program:
- Location: Mid County Community Recreation Center
- Day: Tuesday (July-August)
- Cost: Free
- Format: 6-week 5v5 program where youth will be able to participate in skilled-based development activities and league tournaments
- Team Formation: Teams will be created based on registrants to promote a fun, diverse, and competitive balance amongst teams

The Inclement Weather and Other Emergencies Management Plan has been updated into an MCPS Operating Status Options Google Site for ease of use and access.
We will send any weather related message through our REMIND app and our WHATSAPP groups. Please make sure you are signed up for both to be alerted of any school communication for families.
Argyle MS Food Bank

Message from our Health Room
Parents and caregivers - Please send your students with a refillable, reusable water bottle every day. Hydration is an important part of learning and staying healthy. There are refilling stations throughout the school to ensure your student has access to water all day. Please ensure your student is eating breakfast and lunch whether it is a meal from our school cafeteria or a meal packed from home. Student Attendance
Parents or guardians should handwrite or email student excuse notes to Mrs. Patricia Hernandez, Argyle's attendance secretary. Phone calls will not excuse any absences until a note has been turned in to the main office.
If you have any questions or need to email an excuse note, please contact Argyle's attendance secretary Ms. Patricia Hernandez at patricia_v_hernandez@mcpsmd.org
NEW Dismissal Policy for Argyle MS
We want to inform you of an important change in our dismissal policy that will go into effect starting Monday, October 30, 2023. Effective immediately, any requests for early dismissal or dismissal changes for your child cannot be accommodated after 2:45 PM. This new cut-off time is necessary to ensure the safety and efficient operation of our school dismissal process.
We understand that there may be occasions when you need to make changes to your child's dismissal plan, but after 2:45 PM, it becomes increasingly challenging to implement these changes without causing disruptions. Please make sure to communicate any changes or early dismissal requests to the school's office well in advance of this time to allow us to make the necessary arrangements.
To help us maintain a smooth and organized dismissal process, we kindly ask for your cooperation in adhering to this new policy. Safety is our top priority, and this change will help us ensure a secure and orderly dismissal for all students.
Thank you for your understanding and support in this matter. We greatly appreciate your partnership in keeping our school community safe and well-coordinated. If you have any questions or concerns regarding this policy change, please feel free to reach out to our main office at (240)740- 6370
