Message from the Principal
Dear Corbett Families and Students,
I would like to thank CHS Leadership students Lilly Schimel and Greta Miller for developing and implementing the first Movie on the Lawn family engagement night. It was a lovely fall evening, and it was fun to see so many students and families come together. Special thanks to Ursula Harrington and her mom Jill for running the Snack Shack and the popcorn machine, and to District Technology Director Chris Wingler for setting up the screen, projector and speakers. In their efforts, the team raised $700 for animal welfare. We appreciate the Corbett community for your generosity!
Our upcoming Parent-Teacher Conferences offer a great opportunity to speak with your students and their teachers about college-prep coursework. Corbett High School expects students to participate in four AP courses over their four years of high school. As 10th-12th graders, they get to choose which courses they will take at the AP level. Students should carefully consider the decision to opt out of AP coursework. With many colleges eliminating the SAT as part of their admissions process, strength of schedule will become more important. The opportunity to gain college credit at no cost to students is an incredible benefit offered by the Corbett School District.
Students will receive a form in their email in which they will notify us of their intent to participate in the Corbett Honors Diploma, and which courses they will take for AP credit, due by October 17th. Parents will then be notified, and asked for approval of their student’s choices. We expect all 9th graders to participate in AP Human Geography, as we believe it is an accessible curriculum that can give students confidence in their academic abilities. Students who change their mind after October 31st will incur a $40 fee, which is charged to the district by the College Board.
We look forward to engaging with student and families at conferences.
Thank you for your support and go Cards!

Access Mid-Term Grades in ParentVue
Midterm grades should be available in ParentVue/StudentVue on Wednesday 10/9. CHS does not print and mail report cards. To access the midterm report:

Click the category Report Card
In the Grading Period Dropdown select Midterm Progress 1
If you are having trouble accessing reports via StudentVue/ParentVue, please check-in with our team at conferences or check-in with our office staff.
Reminder about grades:
A, B, C, and P are considered passing and D grades are also considered passing in AP courses.
D, I, or NP on the midterm report indicates a student is at risk of not earning credit at the end of the Trimester in November.

Seal of Biliteracy (Repost)
Can you understand, read, write and speak in a language other than English? If this is you, Corbett is offering an assessment for you to demonstrate your other language skills for High School language credit. If shown to be proficient, these credits could potentially fulfill your language requirements for graduation. The languages offered by STAMP are: Arabic, Chinese, English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, Japanese, Spanish, Spanish-Heritage, Russian, and Korean.
The next round of testing will be offered Friday October 25th. Please contact our language Specialist Melissa Davis at Mdavis@corbett.k12.or.us to sign up.
You can also earn a Seal of Biliteracy by earning a 4+ on an AP Language Exam (for example, AP Spanish) and passing the 11th grade reading and writing state tests. Keep taking those Spanish classes!
