Principal's Corner
Dear Parents and Guardians,
What a fantastic week we’ve had here at Godwin Heights Middle School! The energy and school spirit were undeniable, from our dress-up spirit days to the exciting Staff vs. Students volleyball game. It’s always a fun challenge when our students get to compete against their teachers!
In our classrooms, great learning is happening every day. We are proud of the hard work and focus our students are showing. Our hallways are buzzing with school spirit, especially as we prepared for the Homecoming Parade and football game Friday evening.
As we look ahead, don’t forget that Parent-Teacher Conferences are right around the corner on October 17th and 18th. This is a wonderful opportunity to come into the building, meet with individual teachers, and continue building our partnership in your child’s education. We look forward to seeing you and working together to support your child’s success.
Hope you had a great weekend!

All Things Health & Medicine
Should My Child Stay Home?
As a general rule, your child should not go to school if they have:
- A fever over 100.4° Fahrenheit (F) or 38° Celsius (C) – Your child can return to school after they’ve been fever-free for 24 hours without antipyretics. Antipyretics are medicines that treat or prevent fever.
- Signs they are weak and tired. This is common with the flu.
- Diarrhea – Having loose poop (stool) more often that isn’t caused by a change in diet.
- Throwing up (vomiting) – More than 2 times in a 24-hour period.
- Coughing that disrupts normal activity.
- Wheezing or get short of breath.
- Pain from earache, headache, sore throat, or recent injury.
- Yellow or green drainage from the eye(s).
- A new rash – Not all rashes mean your child must stay home from school. Check with their doctor or health care provider.
