Principal's Message
Dear God,
We thank You for the gift of each new day
and the opportunity to share kindness with those around us.
Help us to be mindful of the needs of others,
to spread joy in the hallways,
and to lift the spirits of our friends, teachers, and classmates.
Grant us the patience to listen,
the compassion to understand,
and the grace to offer a smile or a kind word when it’s needed most.
May our actions reflect Your love,
and may we be instruments of happiness, peace,
and encouragement to all we meet.
Bless our school community,
that we may continue to grow together
in kindness, respect, and unity.
Let us remember that a little kindness
can make a big difference,
and by making others happy,
we also bring joy into our own hearts.
Amen
Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day is a special day when we pause to remember and honour the people who have served and sacrificed for our country, especially those who have been in wars or fought to protect our freedom. It is a time for us to think about the brave men and women who risked their lives to keep us safe and to show them respect for their courage.
On Remembrance Day, we often wear a poppy, which is a symbol of remembrance, and take a moment of silence, usually at 11:00am in the morning, to reflect. The reason for the silence is because it marks the time when, in 1918, the guns stopped firing at the end of World War I, a very big and serious war. at the 11th hour on the 11th day of the 11th month around Australia, we stop to honour the soldiers who died or were hurt in the war.
It’s important to remember that Remembrance Day is not just about the past; it’s also about being grateful for the freedom and peace we have today. It teaches us the value of kindness, respect, and helping others. So, while we think of the soldiers, we also remember how we can make the world a better place by being caring and peaceful.
Remembrance Day is a time for all of us to reflect on the importance of peace and to show gratitude for those who worked hard to create a world where we can live happily and safely.
St Jude's School will hold a special Remembrance Day Reflection on Monday 11th November (next week) at 11am. We thank Years 1 and 6 for preparing the reflection for us.
St Vinnie's Food Drive Begins
Next Tuesday, we will kick off our St Vinnie's Food Drive, an opportunity for our school community to come together and support families who are less fortunate as we approach the Christmas season. Our goal is to collect non-perishable food items that will be used to create hampers for those in need.
This is a wonderful way for us to share our blessings and spread the spirit of kindness and generosity. We thank all students and families who are able to donate items, with each class being asked to focus on a different item, such as canned goods, pasta, rice, cereal, and other non-perishable food items that can help provide meals for families in our community.
At the end of the year, during our Thanksgiving Mass, we will present the collected hampers to St Vincent de Paul, an organization that works to assist families facing hardship. Your donations will make a meaningful difference and bring a little extra cheer to those who may need it most this holiday season.
Thank you for your support and for helping us make this Christmas a little brighter for those in need.
Annual Community Meeting - You're Invited!
Parents are warmly invited to join us for the Annual Community Meeting (ACM) of the School Advisory Council (SAC) and Friends of St Jude's (FOSJ) on Tuesday, 19th November at 5:00 PM.
The ACM is a wonderful opportunity to reflect on the many positive achievements of our school community throughout the 2024 school year. We will also present the 2025 fee schedule and announce our 2025 staffing.
After the meeting, please stay and join us for some light refreshments as we continue to celebrate and connect as a community.
A note was sent home two weeks ago asking parents to RSVP for the meeting. If you have misplaced the note but would still like to attend, please contact the office so we can ensure we have enough catering for everyone.
We look forward to seeing you there!
