We acknowledge that the connections to the land and each other are vital to the work we do.
Administrators' Message
Mrs. Zenovia Lazaruik, Principal
Mrs. Jennifer Erick, Assistant Principal
Mr. Mark Chanasyk, Assistant Principal
June has arrived, and we are finishing up the school year. We have had a fantastic school year, with many successes, fun-filled activities, and we have seen so much growth in our students.
As we end the school year, we have some goodbyes to share. First, we bid a fond farewell to our esteemed staff members who are retiring: Financial Administrative Assistant Janet Carlson and Assistant Principal Jennifer Erick. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Ms. Carlson and Mrs. Erick for their exceptional service to Tofield School. Their dedication and hard work have been invaluable to us, and we wish them all the best in their well-deserved retirement. Second, we acknowledge the resignation of Cosmetology teacher Alyssa Yuzdepski. We want to wish Ms. Yuzdepski all the best in Leduc. Third, we note the staff who are not returning: Sharnelle Umphrey, Caitlin Strong, Neressa Wimberly, and Kristin Thiessen. We wish you all the best in your future endeavors.
We welcome Dr. Karen Gartner from Black Gold School Division to the administrative team as an assistant principal. She is presently a Learning Support teacher at Calmar Secondary School. She has experience teaching grades 1-12 in rural Alberta.
The school board has worked through a reduction of funds to the division, which has unfortunately resulted in a decrease in one teacher at Tofield School. This decrease has led to the school being unable to have three classes for core subjects in grades 7 and 8 and a reduction in the number of complementary courses offered in grades 7, 8, and 9. However, please be assured that anytime we have a reduced staff, we do our utmost to minimize the impact on classes.
Students' role in the course selection process is very important. The information they provide on the course selection forms will help us make any necessary changes to the timetable before the end of June. Timetables for the 2024/2025 school year will be available in PowerSchool on August 13, 2024.
As we prepare for upcoming exams, students will remain in school as close as possible to June 27, the last instructional day. This ensures all schools meet the instructional minutes set by Alberta Education. Communication has gone home for grades 7, 8, and 9, explaining what will happen after their teacher or PAT exams. For grades 10 and 11, students will stay in their exam until 11:30 am and are asked to attend regular classes in the afternoon to prepare for their next exam or complete missed assignments. If a parent wishes to excuse their child after an exam, they are asked to contact the office. Grade 12 students are welcome to leave after they complete their diploma exams.
Finally, on June 25 at 1 pm, we will have our Middle School 5-8 awards in the school gym. We will celebrate academics and athletics. We are proud of all our students and their many successes this school year.
We wish everyone a wonderful summer break, a time to relax and have fun in the sun. We look forward to seeing our Titans on Tuesday, September 3, 2024.

Athletics
Track and Field
Elementary
The Elementary Track and Field Meet at Tofield School will tentatively be taking place on: Wednesday, June 24. This will involve the grade 5 and 6 classes. Students in Junior High will be helping to volunteer at all events (to measure, rake pits, etc...) Elementary teachers will be group leaders. We are always looking for extra help.
Junior High
Junior High Track and Field started in April with practices in the gym and then we moved outside in May and June. Most practice took place during gym classes. This year it was difficult to practice outside sometimes because of all the rain we have been getting and some days where there were very strong winds.
Junior High Eliminations: Wednesday, May 15/24 - Our first Track Meet at Tofield School started with our Eliminations Day where students in Grades 7 to 9 compete in all of the categories to find the top 2 Athletes in each event. Certain Grade 10 students helped out all day, with measuring, raking, etc... The grade 10 students did an outstanding job in helping with this meet.
Ribbons were given out for participation and for places 1-6. Junior High Teachers were group leaders.
Junior High East Division: Tuesday, May 28/24 - 49 (7-9) students moved on to the Junior High East Division Track and Field Meet in Camrose, which was hosted by Sedgewick School. There were 8 schools that attended. The weather was nice, there were a few hiccups throughout the day with events, but overall it was a great day. Our students represented Tofield School with class and good behaviour. Awesome job kids. We also took a few staff and student helpers with us to help supervise, cheer and run events. A special thank you to Tanis Miller for all of her help, encouragement and dedication to our Track and Field program. Students were transported to Camrose by school bus and private vehicles.
As a school we ended up winning the Junior High East Division Meet: Go Titans!

Junior High Regionals: Tuesday, June 4/24 - On Tuesday, June 4th we attended the Junior High Regional Track and Field Meet to wrap up the short Track and Field season. We took a total of 39 athletes. The weather again cooperated for the most part and we placed 4th out of 16 schools in the entire School Division.

Senior High
Senior High students competed at some high competition Track and Field Meets and did really well.
Area 3 Meet: Wednesday, May 22/24 - The Area 3 meet was hosted in Camrose and we sent a total of 14 athletes. All of our students did very well. 5 Athletes moved on to Zones. Students were transported to the event by parents and private vehicles.
Central Zone Meet: Wednesday, May 29/24: 5 Athletes advanced to the Central Zone Meet which was held in Red Deer. Our Senior Boys 4 X 100m relay team and Jacob Bigney who advanced in Junior Boys High Jump with a jump of 1.65m at Areas. Jacob jumped 1.70m at Zones which was tied for 3rd, but only the top 2 athletes advance to ASAA Provincials. Jacob missed Provincials by 5 cm. So close and Great Job Jacob. Students were transported to the event by parents and private vehicles.
For all of the Junior High and Senior High Meets, Tofield School and all other schools in attendance are required to run an event (e.g. Shot Put, Long Jump, etc..) So, we have to take student volunteers to help measure, rake, etc...
