Dear Parents and Carers,
What an incredibly busy half term!
Once again it is time for me to take stock and reflect on the past five weeks. It has been a ‘testing’ half term - physically and mentally, but our children continue to surprise me, teach me and fill me with joy. I have enjoyed many conversations with them, sharing stories and jokes and hearing all about their lives outside school. They are a pleasure to be around.
The staff have worked really hard this half term - sometimes having to complete tasks out of their comfort zone. We’ve had two training sessions where we have made a puppet theatre and a music wall ready for OPAL play. This kind of activity isn’t everyone’s cup of tea but they rolled their sleeves up and gave it their all. We could only do this because of the pallets donated by parents and carers so thank you for your support. Mrs Hathaway and Mrs McKeating continue to do a fantastic job with gardening club and keeping the outside of school looking lovely. We are grateful to them for their care and attention.
This week saw us successfully appoint two teachers for September. Mrs Poskitt will be moving from her HLTA role to a part time teacher position and Mr Geake is joining us full time in KS2. More details of classes and teachers will be available after half term.
Over the holidays I will be having a routine procedure. This means that I won’t be in school the first two weeks back. Mrs Bembridge will be deputising in my absence and has support from the governors, local headteacher and STAR MAT. I will also be on the end of the phone if she needs me!
I hope your week is everything you need it to be,
Mel Walmsley
Headteacher
