NCA Families,
Please consider this a personal invitation for your family to join us this Thursday, 12/12, for "Christmas at NorthPoint". The show will begin at 6:00pm and I would love for you to invite extended family and friends to come be inspired by the amazing show. We will be offering a special opportunity for people to give and support Asheville Christian, which was devastated by Hurricane Helene. This week in Chapel, we explored what Christmas feels like, focusing on the deeper emotions that make this season so special—waiting with excitement, joy, peace, and love. Each of these feelings is rooted in the gift of Jesus Christ, whose birth we celebrate at Christmas. We reflected on key scriptures that highlight these themes:
Luke 2:10: "I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people."
Isaiah 9:6: "And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace."
1 John 4:9-10: "This is how God showed His love among us: He sent His one and only Son into the world that we might live through Him."
Together, we remembered that Jesus is the source of our joy, the bringer of peace, and the greatest expression of God’s love.
We celebrated these feelings with lots of energy and excitement as we sang and danced to "Feelin' Like Christmas." The fun and lively song reminded us that the true spirit of the season is found in celebrating Jesus with joy, love, and gratitude!
Middle/High School
This week, we kicked off our Christmas series titled No Room. "There was no room for Him in the inn" (Luke 2:7). This familiar refrain is a part of the popular Christmas narrative both for Christians and for our culture at large. In this two-week series, we will dig into the historical context in which Jesus was born in order to understand what it meant for there to be no room for Jesus. As we connect history with students' modern experience, this series encourages students to make room for Jesus in their own lives. Week One’s discussion - Do You Have Room?
We were joined again by our live worship band as they sang Firm Foundation. They have done a wonderful job preparing our hearts for worship and we hope to have them in each chapel service for the remainder of the school year!

From Ms. Jones
Good Evening NorthPoint Families,
Here is an update about what the students learned during our guidance lessons this week!
In Kindergarten- 4th grade, we talked about having a positive attitude/ mindset. We also learned about how "self-talk" is our inner dialogue and is the little voice in our head that motivates us or tears us down (positive vs negative). We talked about what to do when a negative thought enters our mind: STOP, think about if the thought is based on the truth/ facts, and then tell yourself a kind thought instead. We then discussed choosing to have positive thoughts and some questions we can ask ourselves when we are in situations and start to think negatively (Do I know this for sure? Do I have proof? What else could they be thinking? What am I in charge of? What good things could happen?). We also talked about how to challenge a negative mindset by doing a reality check, getting some perspective, looking for alternate explanations, and remembering our goals. The students shared why they think having a positive attitude is important. I challenged the students to think about what they like about themselves and what their strengths are when they feel themselves thinking more negatively. We also practiced positive self-talk by using "I CAN" or "I AM" statements. I also read the students a list of Biblical affirmations, sharing with them things that we already know to be true of ourselves because of who God is and who he created us to be. In Kindergarten, 1st grade, and 2nd grade, we read a book called "Worry Says What" where we learned that listening to worry gives him a lot more power, but when we choose to say "no" to the worry in our heads we become more confident in what we can do and stop listening to the lies that tell us we will not be good enough/ we can't do something.
For 5th and 6th grade we talked about working memory this week. We talked about how working memory helps us retain and use information in our minds as we complete tasks. We learned that repetition, visualization, and association are helpful tools in improving working memory. We then did some activities so that students can see what situations involve the use of working memory. We then reflected on why working memory is important and situations in which we may use working memory in our every day.
Thank you and have a great week!
As always, feel free to reach out to me if there is any way I can help support your child.
Ms Jones.
