January/February Performances
Senior Project Presentations January 30 at 6 p.m.
In order to earn their Georgia magnet seal, all students must complete a collaborative capstone project. We are so proud of our seniors and the work they put in to these completely extracurricular projects. Please join us as the students present their work in this free performance.
Jazz Night February 28 at 6:30 p.m.
Join us for a Black History Month celebration the last day of February.
Fall Fine Arts Concert and Art Show
Band News
UGA JanFest Honor Band
We have 9 band students who were selected to attend the annual January High School Honor Band Festival at the University of Georgia in Athens, GA. They will spend 2 days immersed in rehearsals and performances with fellow high school band students from across the state of Georgia, as well as world-class clinicians.
Congratulations to the following students: Johnathan Thompson, Karen Osornio-Hernandez, Sarayia Parker, Gabriel Pye, Andy Martinez-Lopez, Savonta Luke, Brennen Foy, Jaylen Grant, and Aiden Roberson.
GMEA District 11 Honor Band
We have 9 band students who auditioned and were selected to attend the annual Georgia Music Educator’s Assocation District 11 Honor Band Clinic in Milledgeville, GA at Baldwin County High School. They will spend 2 days immersed in rehearsals and performances with fellow high school band students from across the Central Georgia area, as well as revered clinicians in instrumental music education.
Congratulations to the following students: Johnathan Thompson, Karen Osornio-Hernandez, Gabriel Pye, Andy Martinez-Lopez, Gabby Zellner, Brennen Foy, Jaylen Grant, David Stephens and Aiden Roberson.
Bands at the Grand – Mercer University Honor Band
We have 6 band students who auditioned and were selected to attend the annual Bands at the Grand Honor Band Clinic hosted by the Mercer University Bands Department. They will spend 3 days immersed in rehearsals and performances with fellow high school band students from across the Central Georgia area, as well as revered clinician Dr. Jeffrey Rowser.

Dance News
The holiday dance concert and fine arts concert were a great opportunity to show everything we learned first semester. We now turn our attention to the spring concert. This year's theme will be CIRCUS!
Theatre Arts News
One Act Competition:
On October 26, 2024, the Central High School Theatre Department participated in the One Act competition and achieved an impressive 4th place ranking. We are proud to recognize Jalen Aliyu (Bernard) and Naomi Couch (Martha) as All-Star Cast members for their outstanding performances. Additionally, Journee Woodard (Old Woman) received accolades as Best Supporting Actress for the region. Congratulations to all the students for their hard work and dedication. We are immensely proud of their achievements in this production.
We extend our heartfelt gratitude to everyone who generously donated a suitcase for the production. Your contributions significantly enhance the authenticity of our performance and are greatly appreciated. The suitcases will be available for pickup after November 7 and 8. If you require them before those dates, please contact Ms. Butler. Thank you once again for your support!
The Central Theatre Department will hold a mandatory Magnet Parent Meeting on December 17, 2024, at 6:00 PM. Your attendance is essential. Thank you for your cooperation.
Chorus News
It's been a great few weeks in chorus as we start the 2024 school year. This past week, we had our first sectionals rehearsal after school. We will be having sectionals every Monday from 2:35-3:05 which is open to everyone who would like to be involved in chorus activities this year. You don't have to take a chorus class to join us in the afternoons. Come out and bring your voice.
Visual Art News
The fall art show featured work from our visual artists throughout the first semester! Thank you to all who came out to support us.
Hay House is proud to present Inspired Surroundings a Student Art Exhibition, sponsored by the Joesphine Phelps Fabian Fund. I hope you will join us tomorrow afternoon Friday November 1st at Hay House as Macon Magazine and Cox Communications join us to celebrate these students and art in the Bibb County Public School District.
At 4:00 we will announce the winners, present awards and have a Q and A with some of our student artists and judges.
Teachers of award-winning students have been notified. Soirée First Friday, November 1 3:30 - 5:30 p.m. at Hay House 934 Georgia Avenue Street parking available.
