Spotlight: 8th Grade π
The Oldest of the Bunch by Yearbook Staff Members Karley Owens, Aubbrhi Patrick, Brooke Wetzel, Daniela Angarita, Eunice Salonga, and Jade Givens
During October, our eighth-grade students have been very proactive and developed into great leaders for our magnet school program. Precious Sangual states, βI think that our staff is very productive when it comes our learning, and I love how they are always talking to each other for more ideas.β Our 8th grade teachers have done a wonderful job to teach the students how to act as the, βSenior level gradeβ as Mrs. Ta-Neter says. In Ms. Sealeβs class, students are learning how to combine elements to make their own! In Ms. Boykinβs class, students are learning about how the mood of a song can affect a story setting and theme. In Mrs. Grimes, students are learning how to find the perimeter and area of similar figures. In Mrs. Ta-Neterβs class, students are learning about Ancient Greece and The Greek World. Over all, our 8th graders have had a very wild and exciting start to second quarter, they have been kept busy and are always happy to learn something new. ITβS A GREAT DAY TO BE AN ADMIRAL!!!

Β· Amber Rose β Amber always demonstrates optimism and kindness to those around her, including her teachers. She loves to crochet sweet gifts for her friends and teachers and is always there to lend a helping hand. She took the initiative to show all the 6th graders how to use Grammarly to proof-edit their essays. Amber has continued to make me very proud this year.
Β· Kingston McAlman β Kingston has been turning in excellent work. He did an exceptionally wonderful job on his nonfiction narrative about a time when learning something about the past influenced his understanding of the present. He has done a great job of being punctual with submitting assignments, as well.

Rise Above Drugs & Get More Likes and Hugs! by Yearbook Staff Members Christian Ware, Sandra Puac, Bradley Smith
This Red Ribbon Week has been a blast, these students have learned how important it is to learn that having drugs at school is not acceptable. Even if you are at home, it is bad to use drugs because it can hurt you a lot, and it can even reach a point where it leaves you incapacitated. We asked an eighth grader, NaTshala Ray, what she would do if someone offered her drugs. She responded, "I would say no and tell them that I would tell an adult what they said if they didn't get away from me." Sixth grader, Cassie Williams, responded with, "If someone would ask me to help them sell drugs, I would say no because drugs are bad. They damage the lungs and brain." But one that resonated with us was from Aiden Barrett, a seventh grader. He said to us, "Selling drugs at school should not be condoned because it affects the seller, the buyer, and everyone related to the buyer because drugs can change the way of being of the person who consumes them.β
