FALCON'S NEST
The countdown to the school year Begins!
May 17th
Message from Principal Norby
Good Afternoon Armstrong Families:
Below is a message I shared with our student body and staff as we began our school day today. I am happy to report as always, our students showed up and went about their academics. We have a great school and our students are resilient!
I want to take a moment to express my gratitude to our students and staff at Armstrong for your cooperation and support during the incidents that occurred on Wednesday. 99% of you, the students, do exactly what we ask. Go to school, on time, respectful, and earn your credits. Your responsible behavior is greatly appreciated.
I must also extend my appreciation to our dedicated staff members at Armstrong for their swift and effective response to the situations that arose. Your commitment to the safety and well-being of our school community is commendable.
However, it is with regret that I address the unfortunate fights that took place Wednesday. We experienced two separate incidents, one of which occurred during the passing period between 5th and 6th period and 11 students were physically involved. We had a second incident outside at bussing involving 5 more students. Students were hurt and 6 staff members were injured. This is absolutely unacceptable. If you choose to not do school, walk the halls, we will remove you from our building. This behavior needs to stop for the very few that are doing this.
It is also concerning that some students chose to stay and record the altercations or left their classes to observe. Such actions not only escalate the situation but also pose challenges for our staff in maintaining order and ensuring safety.
Please as a school community stand up for what is right, make great decisions, and students, take ownership of your school community. You all as students are the ones who can help lead the change. Please help us.
As we approach the conclusion of the school year, let us renew our commitment to finishing strong. Together, we can overcome challenges and foster a positive and respectful community within our school.

Road Closure update
The city has scheduled mill and overlay street improvements on 36th Avenue this summer. In order for this work to be completed in a safe manner, there will be periods of time when 36th Avenue will be closed. A full road closure will begin on May 20 at 7:00 AM when 36th Avenue between Highway 169 and 300 ft. west of Winnetka Avenue will be closed until May 23. This closure is needed to allow the contractor to work safely as they mill and pave 36th Avenue. Attached is a figure showing the closure, detour route, and alternate local business access routes. During this closure, the intersection of Boone Avenue and 36th Avenue will remain open to north and south traffic only. This schedule is subject to change based on the weather.

ACTION NEEDED: Complete transportation opt-in survey for 2024-25 school year
Robbinsdale Area Schools (Rdale) is entering the third year of its opt-in transportation system. The past two school years have demonstrated the opt-in system works because it helps decrease the number of routes while increasing efficiency in our transportation system.
Beginning April 15, all families with students enrolled in Rdale schools must fill out the bus transportation survey for the 2024-25 school year. The survey must be completed for each student by Monday, May 20.
To fill out the survey, families must log in to their Infinite Campus Parent Portal account. Once logged in, visit the message center, then click surveys. For those who haven’t accessed their Parent Portal account before, Rdale has video tutorials demonstrating how to do so from a phone or from a computer. Families can also contact district support staff with questions about accessing the Parent Portal at registrar@rdale.org.
The opt-in survey is an annual requirement for all students – both those who need bus transportation and those who do not, as well as those who receive specialized transportation. Completing a survey for the current or previous school years doesn’t apply to the upcoming school year.
Please note: every student who is eligible for and needs busing will have transportation to and from school.
If your situation changes, families will be able to make changes to the opt-in form at any time by contacting our Transportation Department at Transportation@rdale.org.
