The Principal's Post
Hello RMS Families:
We are off to a great start at Ridgeview with our scholars. As shared in my opening mailing to families, we are "Flying High for Student Success"! Our scholars are expected to come into the building each morning dressed appropriately and ready to learn. Additionally, we want all of our students to believe that they can achieve. At this point in the school year each scholar should have had the opportunity to listen to the story, "I Am More Than" by Lebron James. Through this book our scholars are encouraged to be empowered and motivated to believe in themselves. As a staff we will continue to hone in on these elements with our scholars throughout the school year. I hope that each family will do the same at home as well.
Additionally, as a reminder we follow the CCS Dress Code at Ridgeview. A link to the CCS Student Handbook: Your Guide to Student Success is below. Please review page 16 in the handbook with your child. All scholars are expected to follow the dress code. Our scholars are also expected to follow Ohio's Cell Phones In Schools Model Policy. The adherence to this policy is expected. A copy of the policy can be found on our website in addition to the most up to date information regarding Ridgeview. I have also included the link below for your convenience.

He was the country's first black head of state and the first elected in a fully representative democratic election. Ridgeview Middle School has three behavior expectations. Students are expected to be RESPONSIBLE, be a MEMBER, and be SAFE at all times.
Because these expectations so so important, each student in attendance viewed videos addressing each of the topics during the first few days of the new school year.
Here's the areas addressed:
- In the Hall
- In the Classroom
- In the Restroom
- In the Cafeteria
- In the Auditorium
- On the Bus
- At Recess
- At Entry and Dismissal
- Against Bullying
Won't you help your child to Be Responsible, a Member, and be Safe.

A Message from Nurse Gina - September 10th Deadline
Welcome Back to School Students, Parents and Guardians!
I am so excited to be starting my 3rd year here at Ridgeview Middle School (and 17th year as a school nurse)! I look forward to keeping your children healthy here at school and taking care of them if they become ill or hurt. Just a couple of reminders:
Please keep your children home from school if they are experiencing ANY of the following symptoms:
- Temperature of 100 or higher
- Vomiting and/or diarrhea
- Shortness of breath or wheezing during normal activities
- Cough that disrupts normal activities
- Yellow or green drainage from eyes
- Rash or draining sores
- Bad sore throat, earache or injury
Your student can return to school if they have been fever-free for at least 24 hours without the use of fever-reducing medications (Tylenol, ibuprofen); improving symptoms; no vomiting or diarrhea for 24 hours.
Hearing and vision screenings will be starting in September. I screen all 7th graders and new-to-district students (per ODH). If you prefer to opt-out of screening, please send me an email.
Finally, ALL 7th graders are required by state law to have an updated Tdap (tetanus, diphtheria, pertussis) and MCV4 (meningitis) vaccinations. I have emailed and sent home information if your student is in need of these (or other) immunizations. Please make sure to have your student immunized NO LATER than September 10th. If they have not received their required immunizations, they will be excluded from school starting September 11th and will not be allowed to attend until they receive their vaccines.
I look forward to working with you and your student(s) this school year. Please do not hesitate to reach out with any questions or concerns.
Fondly,
Gina Rancitelli, RN, MEd, BSN, LSN

Special Needs & Services: ADHD Insight
Does your child have difficulty focusing on an activity or seem impulsive in behavior? When symptoms are severe enough and cause ongoing problems in more than one area of your child's life, it could be a sign of a neurobehavioral disorder, such as ADHD.
Attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) is a chronic condition that affects millions of children and often continues into adulthood. ADHD includes a combination of persistent problems, such as difficulty sustaining attention, hyperactivity and impulsive behavior.
Children with ADHD also may struggle with low self-esteem, school anxiety, troubled relationships and poor performance in school. Symptoms sometimes lessen with age. However, some people never completely outgrow their ADHD symptoms. However, they can learn strategies to be successful.
