Principal Message
Dear Families,
What a way to end the week! Snow! We wish all of our students and their families a safe and healthy spring break. If you are traveling or staying local, please find time to unplug, rest, and relax with friends and family.
When we return from Spring Break our entire school will be taking the spring MAP assessment in reading and math. Classroom teachers will share their testing schedules with you.
In addition, we will start to think and plan for the 24-25 school year! I can't believe I am saying that already. We will share our optional Class Placement Parent Input Form after spring break.
Have a great week and we will see the children back at the nest on Monday, April 1st!
Sincerely,
Erin, Julia, and the OMS Staff
Upcoming Practice Drills
HARD LOCKDOWN DRILL
Each year as part of our emergency procedures we practice what to do in the event of a hard lockdown. This year our drill will be on Friday, April 5th. The AHPD and our school resource officer will be on-site to practice with us.
Just prior to the drill, we will announce over the intercom that this is a practice drill and the pre-recorded lockdown announcement will be played. At the end of the drill, an administrator or police officer will unlock each door to let the students and teachers know they did a great job and that the drill is complete.
SPRING BUS EVACUATION DRILL
Twice a year our students participate in a bus evacuation drill. During the school day classes will sit on a school bus, listen to information from the bus drivers and practice what to do in the event the bus needs to be evacuated. This will be on Monday, April 8th.
Earth Day Fair - Wind Turbine Challenge
The Wind Turbine Challenge is returning to the Earth Day Fair on Tuesday, April 23. Olive students, families, and staff are invited to design and create a set of blades at home using recycled or repurposed materials. The set of blades that produces the most electricity at the fair will be declared our 2024 Challenge winner. We provide the shafts, instructions, and some design hints. You do not have to attend the Fair to participate in the challenge.
Complete this form no later than Wednesday, April 17 to request shafts and instructions. (link to Google Form)

Don't Forget to Order a Yearbook!
If you have not already, purchase your yearbook today! Customize 2 pages with your own photos, quotes, and memories. Orders and customization due by April 26.
