Northview Familia,
Attendance Matters!
Northview’s average daily attendance for the week of 3/3/25 to 3/7/25 was 96.1%.-- a 0.8% decrease from last week. Let’s keep striving for even better attendance!
Attention All Parents & C-VUSD Community!
The Covina-Valley Unified School District values the input of parents, guardians, and community members as we work to update our Local Control Accountability Plan (LCAP). This important plan outlines our goals for student success, the outcomes we aim to achieve, the actions we will take, and the expenditures that support our initiatives across the District.
We invite you to take a few minutes to complete the 2024-25 C-VUSD Parent/Guardian and Community Survey. Your feedback on key District initiatives will play a vital role in shaping Covina-Valley’s Annual Update and ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our students and families.
Click this SURVEY LINK to take the survey.
Thank you for sharing your valuable insight and helping us build a brighter future for all C-VUSD students!
First Grading Period Grades
Grades for our first grading period (7 weeks) were officially posted to Aeries this past Friday. Please have a conversation with your student regarding the importance of staying on track academically. The next grading window closes on April 18.
Student Success:
Our very own, Jin-Jin Sanglimsuwan, represented C-VUSD at the ACSA Regional Oratory Contest at La Cañada on Wednesday, March 5, 2025. She took home a $350 scholarship. See picture below. Congratulations!
WASC Visit Recap:
Thank you to everyone who participated in a WASC Focus group and made our visit a success. Our visiting committee was highly impressed by the dedication and commitment that we all demonstrate to our students every day. The insightful discussions from each Focus Group truly helped our visitors understand what it means to be a Northview Viking.
The committee made note of the following schoolwide strengths:
13 CTE Courses & Dual Enrollment Program
Opportunities for students to be college and career ready with the 7th period schedule, A-G SAI classes, and intervention classes to build skills.
The school provides social-emotional supports for all students through the Wellness Center and intentional implementation of Wellness Wednesdays.
Systematic use of common and formative assessments to intentionally guide instruction and intervention.
Northview is clean, caring, and a safe space that nurtures learning, which is validated by all parents, students and faculty.
The committee also suggested the following three areas of focus:
- Improve and increase the use of instructional strategies to design impactful lessons with high student engagement and opportunities to master skills and key standards, with an emphasis on Mathematics, to address the achievement gap for English learners and students with disabilities.
- Enhance the use of social-emotional learning and school policies to foster student engagement for all students through a school-wide implementation of the RULER Framework by providing ongoing professional development for staff to utilize MTSS strategies.
- Increase ELL students’ and SPED performance outcomes by closely monitoring data consistently. Recommend developing a system to monitor students’ progress in core classes. Train all teachers with ELL strategies to ensure students receive academic language support and are mastering key standards and skills.
The 18-month process and visit provided us with a great opportunity to reflect on our current practices and put into place systems to better improve our effectiveness as a school site. Again, thank you all for your help throughout this journey. I would like to give an extra special shout-out to Ms. Cortez, who was our lead WASC report author and really put in the extra work to make sure that our visit was a success.
I'm including our WASC video below once again -- Sorry, I just really love this video! Thank you, Ms. Woods and the entire FAME Academy.

Viking Field Trip
Students in Ms. Docazal's Spanish 1 and Spanish 2 classes went on a cultural exploration to Olvera Street. Students visited five museums: The Chinese American Museum, LA County's first firehouse, the Italian American Museum, The Avila Adobe House (One of the first houses in LA), and the Siqueiros mural exhibition "America Tropical." Students also visited Union Station and walked down Olvera Street. Students made connections and comparisons of their daily life with those of the early settlers who helped establish the city of Los Ángeles. Students also learned about the impact and influence of Latino culture in Los Ángeles. See pictures below.
Have an amazing week, Vikings! Together, we thrive!
Wellness Center
Greetings from the Wellness Center,
We have the power to shape our health, happiness, and overall well-being. One way to build this strength is by engaging in wellness activities also known as self-care activities. Self-care activities are those things we do to take care of our mental, emotional, and physical health. Research demonstrates the importance of self-care. For instance, self-care has been found to be associated with lower levels of anxiety and depression, improves productivity and sleep quality plus so much more.
There are many self-care activities such as journaling, exercise and art. An art wellness activity can be painting, drawing, water coloring, digital design or another art form. Need more ideas? Stop by the Wellness Center in M-2.

Staff Spotlight
Mr. Bobby Bellamy isn’t your average science teacher. By day, he’s in the classroom, igniting curiosity and enthusiasm for the world of Anatomy and Physiology. But outside of the classroom, he’s got a whole other side: he’s a dedicated wrestling coach who shapes the minds and bodies of young athletes with the same intensity and passion he brings to his lessons.
When he’s not coaching or teaching, you’ll find Mr. Bobby Bellamy cheering on his beloved LA Lakers. Whether it’s a nail-biting buzzer-beater or an epic playoff run, he's the first to celebrate a Lakers win or passionately debate their strategy.
But perhaps the most surprising part of Mr. Bellamy’s story? He once made it into an Adidas commercial! Yes, you heard that right. His charisma, confidence, and love for sports caught the attention of the iconic brand, and he became a face in their marketing campaign. It’s just another reminder that there’s more to this teacher than meets the eye.
Whether he's breaking down a complex scientific theory, leading his wrestling team to victory, or just enjoying a Lakers game, Mr. Bellamy proves that passion, dedication, and a little bit of flair can take you far—both inside and outside the classroom.
