2nd Quarter Report Cards - Posted Today!
Friday, January 17th at 12PM: Quarter 2 Report Cards posted in Skyward
Support Your Child's Academic Success!
Parents, as you review your student's report card today, here are some suggestions to support their academic success:
- Check Skyward periodically to monitor your student's formative and summative grades.
- Ensure that your child attends school every day. Attendance is tremendously important to academic success!
- Teachers offer remediation opportunities for summative grades of D or F. If your child earns a summative grade of D or F, they should inquire with their teacher as to remediation or retake opportunities.
- FREE tutoring is available after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays, both in person and online. If your child is struggling in any academic subject, we have tutors here to HELP! See the information below in the newsletter.
- If your child is consistently struggling in a class you may consider reaching out to the teacher via email to discuss or to set up a parent teacher conference,
- If your child is struggling in multiple academic subject areas, consider reaching out to his or her school counselor to set up a conference.
New Hallway/Walkway Patterns on Campus
We are continuing to evaluate and tweak our walkway patterns on campus as new areas become available as construction begins to wrap up. We know there are still some bottleneck areas and our teachers are working with students to not penalize them. We expect the hallway congestion to continue to improve as the construction begins to conclude in the upcoming weeks.
Car Rider Traffic Pattern Reminders
School Starts at 8:10AM
Students should be in their 1st period class, ready to learn at 8:10AM. To accomplish this, all students should be dropped off by 8:00AM at the latest to give them time to get to class on time.
Car Rider Line Procedures
All car rider traffic should enter campus through the main gate, on Pirate Nation Way. Please follow posted signs and loop through the front parking lot and drop off/pick up students on the sidewalk directly in front of the school building.
Students should not be dropped off outside of the school gates. No U-Turns are allowed on Pirate Nation Way or on campus.
To make the line move as quickly and safely as possible, please follow the following tips:
- Continue to pull up behind the car in front of you
- When you get to the sidewalk in front of the school, pull all the way up toward the flagpole until the cars in front of you stop before loading or unloading students
- Traffic is light before 7:45AM and after 3:00PM, these are recommended times to have the shortest wait in the car line
- At peak times our car rider line takes 5-7 minutes from the time you turn onto Pirate Nation Way until you have picked up or dropped off your child - please be patient!
Reminder - Forest Grove - NOT a Pickup/Dropoff Area
Our neighbors have asked us to remind all parents that Forest Grove is not a designated pick up or drop off area. This area is for access of walkers and bike riders from the neighborhoods around Matanzas. All car riders should be picked up and dropped off on the sidewalk directly in front of the school, following our established traffic pattern.

Note: students are NOT required to purchase a graduation package from the website, families may choose to order individual items such as cap & gown by scrolling down to "Shop All Graduation Products" on the Jostens website. Look for "Custom Cap/Gown/Tassel/Medallion Unit" which includes a cap, gown and tassel. The school medallions are provided by MHS to all students on the day of graduation.
Using a Former Graduate's Gown?
We know that some of our students use gowns previously worn by their older siblings - if you are planning to do this, please contact Ms. Alred, our Senior Sponsor (alredb@flaglerschools.com), so that she can verify that you have the most up to date regalia and if needed, work with our Jostens representative to bring your gown up to date.
Having Financial Difficulty?
We know that some of our families have financial hardship that prevent them from being able to afford the cap and gown. If your family needs financial assistance to be able to purchase a cap and gown, please reach out to your child's school counselor directly (contacts below) and she will be able to help.
