US News & World Report published the 2024 Best Elementary Schools and Hawthorn was named among the top in the state of Missouri making us a "U.S. News Best Elementary School". The criteria includes academic proficiency, number of highly qualified teachers, our school counseling program, and our student-teacher ratio.

The Hawthorn Leadership Team met Wednesday after school. Your team representative will share, in more detail, the highlights of our conversation. Here are the minutes, if you are interested.

As a reminder, your mid-year PDP is due on Thursday, Dec. 21st. Just log into NEE and add data and a brief narrative to document your progress on your current PDP. If you have questions, just ask!

...Heather and CERT members! Did you know we had a CARDIAC EMERGENCY RESPONSE TEAM at Hawthorn? We had our first meeting on Tuesday morning to establish roles and hold our first drills. Thanks to Heather for leading this group and to the team members: Angie, Veronica, Lisa R., Justina, Sheila, Victoria, Lindsey P., Morgan, Brooke. Special thanks to Diane for helping "behind the scenes" during our first meeting.

...Maria created another awesome musical experience for students and families! Thanks to the entire specials team for helping out with rehearsals, etc., and to the 5th grade teachers for supporting their students!

Baby Shahid is arriving in June of 2024!!

Beginning on Monday we will have 'The 12 Days of Holiday Challenges'! Each morning on the announcements we will spin the wheel to reveal the current challenge. IF you choose to complete the challenge your name will be entered in a drawing to win fabulous prizes!! IF you DO NOT want to complete a challenge, but still love the idea of being entered in a drawing-- just use one of the "FREE PASSES" placed in your box.
