Dear East Hills Family,
Happy Monday!
We have a great week ahead of us full of spirit, academics and "containing winter break enthusiasm"! We still have a lot of work to do even with our somewhat modified week. Please continue to encourage your child to be excited AND maintain great behavior as we still have a week of instruction before the break.
The quarter ends January 22nd. Many students have been working on their goal to bring up scores and engagement in some courses, we look forward to seeing their progress. Just as many are striving to maintain an excellent grade in all courses. We are proud of all of them for their efforts.
We hope that everyone comes in safely this morning (in their warm PJs!) and don't forget that Friday is a HALF DAY- students will be dismissed directly from Freedom after our Pep Rally.

Amiah Perez
Amiah
Amiah stood out to her team's Team Leader. She works hard and gets good grades. Amiah played for East Hills' Flag football team and loved it! She likes volleyball and plans to try out for the Freedom team! She loves to hang out with friends and do everything from watching shows and hanging out! She is friendly, polite and ready to learn everyday.
Amiah's favorite subject is history, she loves learning about things that happened in the past. In fact, her favorite teacher of her time so far at East Hills was her 7th grade SS teacher, Mr. Clemente!
She has a huge family and loves spending time with them.
When you see Amiah in 10 years, you might find her in a vetrinarian office or as a real estate agent! We are so proud to have Amiah as part of our East Hills family!

ADMIN ADMIRATION
Another staff member doing great things here at East Hills!
Mrs. Long
Mrs. Long is a soft spoken super star here at East Hills. She works diligently with our students, often going above and beyond for students on and off her case load. She is a leader with our Leader in Me efforts, working hard to listen to the staff, to listen to the students and keeping all of us in a positive forward momentum.
She is a great coach and her players love her! Her field hockey team follows her lead with sportsmanship, cooperation, and team work! We are lucky to have a coach with the field hockey skills to show many middle schoolers never tried before!
Our school is a better place because of Mrs. Long and we are so very grateful for her leadership, her patience, her work effort and her positive attitude!

CELL PHONES!!
New for 2024-25
Summer is coming to a close and often we neglect to realize many of the changes the students will need to become accustomed to when school starts. Waking up early, preparing to catch the bus or travel to school, schoolwork, homework, and the list goes on.
One major area to consider is that your children will not have the same access to their cell phones when they become students again.
Parents, please prepare your child(ren) for the adjustment. Most parents have limitations they set for their children throughout the summer days to limit screen time. However, all of the students and you as parents need to know that we are adjusting our standards for the upcoming school year. We looked back on the level of distraction vs. usefulness cell phones have provided over the past few years and we realize the need to set a tone for the school day to be largely void of the distractions of cell phones. Here is what you should prepare your child(ren) for when they return to school:
Students may not CARRY phones in hands, pockets, etc. Cell phones must not be out at all. They must remain in bags during the school day. This means:
Students can never use cell phones in class, hallway or office without teacher/staff permission.
Students can never carry cell phones in hand in the hallway.
Students can never take cellphones to/in the lavatory.
Students can never take cell phones to the cafeteria (not in purses/lunch bags if those items are brought to the cafe).
***Smart watches have similar restricted use in all the same ways as cell phones. Smart watches can and will be collected if used inappropriately.
