**The Parent Survey (Character Plus cSurvey) will be OPEN from Oct. 1st - Oct. 21st.
SURVEY WILL CLOSE ON MONDAY OCT. 21st (We currently have 112 parents that have taken the survey. I will be sending a text link out this Sunday as one last reminder to try and get the most participation and feedback as possible)
To access the survey, please go to https://bit.ly/3zt1MEG and use password zitz325 to take the
survey.
It's Germ Season & the weather is changing!
Check in with your classroom teachers and think about those specials area teachers; counselors, title, art/music/pe/library, OT & Speech rooms, etc.
Any donations for hand sanitizer, wipes for desk and surface areas, Kleenexes, etc. we will work to keep hand washing, air purifiers and outside air time at the fore front of our day.
Another way to help is to wash backpacks and coats or even lunch boxes as we transition into a new season. Abiding by the 24 hour symptom free rule before returning to school also protects our students as they interact with their peers and teachings and collaborate while they learn daily.
Keeping an eye on the weather can be tricky these days when it is cold in the morning and warmer in the afternoon. Please dress your student in layers and help keep items out of the lost and found by labeling your items.
*We will try to get the lost and found table outside tomorrow morning and before our trunk or treat event for anyone to swing by and give it a glance to see if anything is yours!
Character Initiative Parent Survey
Dear Zitzman Families,
We are working to improve the character initiative at Zitzman Elementary, and we would appreciate it if you would complete our parent survey. The information you provide is important to us and will be used in school planning.
The survey should only take 10 minutes of your time. Please complete the survey today, if possible, but no later than October 21, 2024.
Your response to the survey is anonymous, confidential, and voluntary. Responding to the survey constitutes your consent for us to use the information for district and school planning.
To access the survey, please go to https://bit.ly/3zt1MEG and use password zitz325 to take the survey.
Thank you for your assistance.

Red Ribbon Week 28th-31st
This is NOT NEXT WEEK but the week after!
I just wanted to get it in on your radar as I know some would like to time to prep and prepare.
Reminder that Red Ribbon week leads up to Halloween and there is
NO SCHOOL for students on Friday Nov. 1st.
See below for the spirit day information:
Zitzman Expectations and Guidelines to follow for Thursday Oct. 31st
Costume FYI as you may start preparing for the Holiday:
We plan to do a school wide parade either through the hallways or outside (weather pending) to showcase our holiday spirit towards the end of the school day.
There are two options when thinking about your student and their costume on 10/31.
1. Your student can wear their costume to school. This option would mean they are able to use the restroom on their own, without any zipper or assistance, when needing to go. They are still able to learn and complete work as needed in their costume.
2. Your student can bring their costume. If your student brings their costume, there will be time dedicated before the school parade for them to change into. This option would only be doable if your student is able to dress themselves into their own costume independently.
General MVR3 Guidelines to be aware of and follow:
-No weapon or toys/accessories
-No face paint or masks
-No Inflatable costumes (these are unsafe in a school setting, causing a tripping hazard along with other worries)
-No scary or gory like costumes

An idea to try...
On my way home from school with my two boys, ages 10 & 11, I am usually trying to pry out any information from them about their day and not getting a whole of conversation back. It is usually a lot of "I don't know" or "It was good"...
I thought these were some fun questions that might actually get some engaging responses:
1. What was the funniest thing that happened at school today?
2. What was the kindest thing you did today?
3. What are you grateful for today?
4. What did you do outside today?
5. Who did you play with today? What did you play?
6. What was the hardest thing you had to do today?
7. What books did you read today?
8. What was your favorite lesson today?
9. What emotions did you feel today?
10. What was the best thing you learned today?
11. What did you do today that made you feel most proud?
12. What are you most looking forward to doing tomorrow at school?
13. What made you smile today?
14. What questions did you ask your teacher today?
15. What part of the day made you feel happiest today?
