Care Closet Donations
I felt so grateful over the Thanksgiving break when donations started arriving! Thank you so much!!.
Being able to provide hygiene and nonperishable food items to students is very rewarding and I couldn't do it without your donations. I have updated the list based on items we are fully stocked up on and only have items that we are still in need of- Thank you SO much for supporting the students at Monarch!

BVSD Choice Enrollment Window Open through 1/8/25
The Boulder Valley School District is now accepting applications for choice enrollment. The Boulder Valley School District welcomes both students from outside our district and those who want to choose a school outside of the neighborhood school to participate in our Choice Enrollment process.
Increase your chances for an offer by applying by Wednesday, Jan. 8, 2025
Apply anytime before Jan. 8: It doesn’t matter whether you apply on the first day of the window or the last day. Families have equal possibilities of getting the school of their choice, as long as it is during the window.

FAFSA/CASFA Workshop
BVSD’s GRAD+ Team will be hosting a FAFSA/CAFSA workshop for students and families at the Education Center on Feb. 26 from 4:30 - 7:00 PM. There will be financial aid representatives from local institutions of higher education to support families in navigating the forms and answering questions about post-secondary education.

Check out this Gap Year program - Where There Be Dragons - They run immersive Summer & Gap Year travel programs in Asia, Latin America, and Africa. They will be visiting Monarch on Wednesday, January 22 - 11:30 AM. Sign up by emailing megan.navarro@bvsd.org and you will receive a pass to come and join the visit.
Juniors and Seniors, sign up now in Naviance! Counseling will send you a pass to come down to the Post Grad center, or other location noted on the pass, to join the visit.

The FAFSA has undergone some big changes in the last couple years causing some confusion.

2025 Graduation Ceremony

CU Events Center, CU Events, Regent Drive, Boulder, CO, USA
- Seating is open, no tickets are needed for entry.
- There will be a live stream of the graduation ceremony.
- Seniors are allowed to decorate their cap for graduation.
- GradImages will be on site during our graduation ceremony to take photos of the students receiving their diplomas on stage. They will email proofs for purchase to families.

Attention Seniors!!
Join me for free tours of FRCC Westminster (1/17), FRCC Boulder County (Longmont) (1/24), and Metro State University (1/31)! These tours will occur on three consecutive Fridays in January and are open to all interested BVSD high school students with preference given to students who have filled out an Intent to Participate form for ASCENT or TREP.
Tours start and end at Boulder TEC where we will collectively board BVSD buses, and your absence from school will be excused. Metro will feed us a free pizza lunch! Please fill out this survey if you’re interested.

CU Course-CHEN 1000 Creative Technology
I want to share a great opportunity for students who are interested in the Seal of Climate Literacy - or cutting edge technology in science. In this class, students will explore cutting-edge topics such as decarbonization, biotechnology, nanomaterials, and renewable energy.
CU is offering CHEN 1000 Creative Technology course this spring. This 3-credit class will meet at CU on T/Th 3:30-4:45.
The usual cost of course is $1845. For students who complete the BVSD College Before Graduation process and authorize COF, the cost will be $989.70. Additional scholarships are available through the High School Access office at CU so that all tuition costs can be covered for those who qualify.
