On Super Bowl Sunday (February 11) we are going to try something different. Rather than cancel our evening Bible Studies as we have done in the past, we are going to move them up to 4:00 p.m. So make note that day that Sunday evening activities will be at 4:00 instead of 6:00. I am leading a study through the OT while my wife is leading a group of ladies to study the book of James.
I challenged our members last Sunday morning to give a special gift to help our cash flow buffer. Our Finance Committee has ordered a freeze on all unnecessary spending - not because our 2024 giving is low, but because our cash flow buffer is depleted. In other words, we are living “week to week”. I’m encouraging our members, especially those with emergency funds, to consider giving a one-time gift to replenish our buffer. Once a buffer is restored, we will have money on hand to pay our regular obligations and the Finance Committee should unfreeze budgeted spending.
Let me also call you to pray for our Youth and Children’s Ministry. Pray for these 2 Ministry Teams as they meet this Sunday night. Pray that God would raise up parents and others as lay leaders to care for and invest in our students and kids. Pray that God would provide leadership for these ministries either in house or from outside our church. Pray that both of these ministries would thrive this year - that they would be a place students and kids want to be - that there would be joy and spiritual growth for the participants as well as the leaders.
