Warm November Greetings
November has arrived and with it, some traditional fall weather. The arrival of November also signals that we have reached the end of our first quarter and as fall conferences conclude, we set our sites on the later half of this first semester. November brings our first significant calendar variations with several noted holidays occurring across the coming weeks. Please take a look through the below "Important Upcoming Dates" section and/or keep our North website bookmarked to keep these forthcoming dates in mind.
As always, thank you for taking the time to read through this newsletter. We hope that the below updates and spotlights highlight the many positives across our campus and North community. In this 100th year of service, our North team is grateful for the opportunity to serve the pride of North Everett.

Honoring our Veterans, Past & Present
As a school, we are honored to thank the many who have served and our currently serving our country in our Armed Forces. For North, this includes members of our North team, parents, children, and other loved ones. Veterans Day is this coming Monday (11/11) and the purposeful focus of this coming three-day weekend. To help us prepare, we are seeking to honor our Veterans across this week including our Veterans Assembly on Friday (11/8).
If you or a loved one is a veteran, having served our county through military service, please know that we are appreciative and honor your service, sacrifice, and commitment. As we have discussed as a school, veterans are true ("real life") heroes, having made sacrifices to keep us all safe and secure. As we prepare for a season of gratitude, please know how thankful we are for all of the veterans who have served our county.
Honoring Native American Indian and Alaska Native Heritage
Indigenous peoples’ history is defined by strength, survival, and a deep commitment to and pride in their heritage, right to self-governance, bonds, beliefs, and ways of life. The opportunity exists/every day, and we should honor the history, rich cultures, and vast contributions of Native peoples as part of our daily practices.
The dawning of November, and the renewed focus on Native America Indian and Alaskan Native Heritage Month provides us with an ever-needed opportunity to collectively learn and celebrate, in truth and solidarity. An opportunity goNorth, growing ourselves while honoring the Native lives and precious homelands of Western Washington, the Pacific Northwest, and beyond. Across this month of November, we will seek to learn, uphold, honor, ad celebrate as a school and community. This includes daily opportunity to pause, reflect, and show respect as we collectively seek to learn and honor the heritage and contributions of Native peoples locally and across our nation and world.
Fall Conference Appreciation
If you did not have an opportunity to join us earlier this week, please know that we would be happy to connect should you have any questions and/or concerns about how your child/children are progressing this far, this year. Again, thank you for taking the time to stop by our North campus to connect.
Coming Soon: Winter I Athletics
As you likely noted in the above calendar/dates section, November and December is our busiest time of the year for North Athletics. Six teams will be participating across three sports including girls/boys soccer (tryouts beginning 1/6), girls volleyball (7th & 8th), and boys basketball (7th & 8th). Games will abound in our North gyms and up the street at Lincoln Field for our home soccer games, under the lights.
Should you have any questions about this upcoming season, please see our North Athletics site or contact our North Office during regular business hours.
North Hosts Everett's First BIONIC Club
This year, North is fortunate to have fifteen active clubs on campus. These after school opportunities are invaluable and provide our students with both interest-based and social connections. Many of these clubs are new to North including BIONIC. Short for Believe It Or Not, I Care, this club has a simple, unifying purpose - Show others that they are valued through deliberate acts of kindness.
Recently, BIONIC's good deeds were the focus of an article in the Everett Post (LINKED HERE). The article covered the club's recent efforts to connect with and show support to the students, staff, and community of Asheville Middle School. Ashville, NC was devastated recently by Hurricane Helene and our BIONIC students wanted to connect and share an act of kindness, some 2,600 miles away. The BIONIC Club meets each Friday afternoon and is supported by a 3:00pm bus for students who normally take a bus home after school.
My Achievers Program (MAP) at North
As noted above, North has added several new clubs to our after school offerings. One of those new options is our My Achievement Program (MAP), an amazing new opportunity brought to us by our partners at the YMCA. The focus of the program includes “academic success, developing leadership skills, empathy, social consciousness, and service to others.” MAP combines a former North program, Stellar Scholars into this new opportunity. Along with after school academic support, participating students will have the opportunity to connect with others through peer tutoring.
MAP takes place after school on Mondays, ending most days at 4;00pm. Like BIONIC above, the program is supported my a 4:00pm bus for those who utilize EPS transportation home. For more information and/or questions, please contact Mrs. Cave at mcave@everettsd.org or Mr. Bae Williams at abaewilliams@everettsd.org.
Natural Leaders: Parent Series Starts in November
Please join our North Natural Leaders Program on Thursday, November 14th, for first parent series in collaboration with the Career & Technical Education Department. Attendees will learn about the various opportunities for your child to explore in-demand career pathways.
All are invited and welcome - Interpretation services available upon request. Space will be limited so please CLICK HERE to register.
Seeking Volunteers: Family Engagement Advisory Council
Our Everett Public Schools are building a Family Engagement Advisory Council and are looking for a couple of North parents/guardians who would be willing to join other parents in three meetings across the coming months.
This new advisory group will specifically work to advise, foster, and promote a needed culture of family engagement across our district , school, and community. More specifically, the Council will provide our EPS Superintendent, Dr. Ian Saltzman and districts leads with feedback relate to effective family engagement practices. They'll advise our leaders as to how we can better remove barriers to family engagement and advocacy. Meetings will be held from 5:00pm to 6:30pm on December 5th (12/5), February 3rd (2/3), and April 15th (4/15). Child care as well as dinner will be provided for each meeting.
If you are interested, please contact North Principal, Tyler Ream. We'd be grateful and honored to have you represent our North community in this important initiative.
STAR Celebrations
On the final Friday or October (10/25), over three hundred of our students enjoyed the first STAR Party of the year. These monthly opportunities occur during our Friday STAR block and provide students with an opportunity to celebrate their efforts across the past month.
For October, grades needed to be at/above C, with less than five tardy incidents, and less than two cell/earbud violations. While brief in nature, these monthly opportunities provide both recognition and motivation.
Our second STAR celebration of the year is scheduled for early December and meant to honor those who put forth a quality effort between now and the end of this month.
