WMHS Weekly Information
September 16-20
From the Principal's Desk
Zebra Nation,
Our first 5 day week is in the books. Getting fully back into the swing with routines now.
Class Bells / Tardy to Class / Hall Sweeps --
- We have a bell that rings to release students to go to their next class.
- We have a warning bell that rings, to alert our students that their next class will be starting in 60 seconds.
- We then have a bell that rings to start the next class. All students should be inside their classroom when the start of class bell rings.
- Any student(s) that is not inside their class when the start of class bell rings, is tardy and subject to being picked up in a hall sweep by our leadership team.
- After the hall sweeps: if a student is picked up *3 times, they will be issued an ISS (in school suspension). After the *4th time, the student will be given an OSS (out of school suspension). The OSS will be progressive (*5th time is 1 day of OSS, *6th time is 2 days of OSS, *7th time is 3 days of OSS, *8th time is 5 days of OSS, and *9th time is 10 days of OSS).
- We will reset the Hall Sweep Tardies each month.
- Students are expected to get to class on time and to stay in class.
- We will begin to run Hall Sweeps, with consequences this week!
Other Important Information β
- There are no hoods on heads INSIDE the building. This is for the safety of everyone in the building, as we HAVE to be able to identity every person INSIDE our building at all times. No hoods on heads!
- As high schoolers, young adults, you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself. Throw your own trash away at your table in the cafeteria.
- Your lunch schedule is based on your 4th hour teacher. They will tell you what lunch you have: A, B, or C. We also have it posted in the halls around WMHS. You need to be in the lunch that you are assigned to or you will be marked absent and this will be considered as skipping.
- Again, as high schoolers, young adults, you are responsible for cleaning up after yourself. Be responsible. Throw your own trash away at your table in the cafeteria.
- Take pride in WMHS! Itβs all of our second home! We have a beautiful school. Keep it clean, nice, and neat.
- *Food Deliveries - students cannot have food delivered to WMHS during school hours. We cannot have food deliverers showing up all around WMHS, having students opening doors, putting the building at risk.
- *Buses - please know that the buses roll out in about 5 or 6 minutes at the end of the day. As a result, you need to be quick in getting to them once the 2pm bell rings to end our day.
As we get going in this school year, itβs very important that you get into routines AND that β
- You are at school every day.
- You get to class on time.
- You stay in class, where the 'teaching and learning' happens with you and your teacher.
- You make good choices! Choices have consequences and we will enforce the Code of Conduct. Please know that violent acts will not be tolerated!
- And always remember - You got this. We got you.
Career Tech Students -- (from the Career Tech Administration)
- Please be mindful that Wayne-Westland students should park ONLY at their respective home high school. Transportation has been arranged for Wayne Memorial students. Due to the limited parking spaces of over 1100 students and the restaurant, we urge strict adherence to this policy. Exceptions are granted for students with higher-level work-based learning experiences, provided they obtain approval from both schools' administrative teams. Students who drive without permission may face disciplinary consequences.
UPDATE! WMHS vs. JGHS Football Game --
- JGHS scheduled WMHS as their homecoming game this year.
- FYI. Please note: the WMHS vs. JGHS football game will now be played at 5pm on Friday, 9/27/24 at JGHS.
WMHS Homecoming --
