Dear IG Families,
The Back to School sales have started, so that must mean the end of summer is coming soon! I hope this edition of our monthly newsletter comes at time where our children are still enjoying the special summer days with a lot of time spent outside and with friends and family.
You may have noticed the work happening around IG if you passed by this summer. Workers have been repairing and preparing the roof for the larger construction project that we will undertake next summer. More information about this project will be shared with the community throughout the school year.
We will share another Back-To-School newsletter closer to the first day of school with reminders of some of the information below, as well as more information about the routines and expectations that will make this year successful.
We very excited to partner with you this school year. Please feel free to reach out to me if anything comes up. We are a team and our collaboration is vital for your child's growth.

Meet Ms. Naples!
Ms. Melissa Naples has joined the IG office as our new assistant principal. Ms. Naples received Bachelor’s degree in elementary education with an ESL endorsement from Bradley University and a Master's degree in Educational Leadership from Aurora University. Prior to joining River Trails School District 26, Ms. Naples taught first and fifth grade classes in Bloomingdale School District 13. In her free time, Ms. Naples enjoys cooking and baking, taking walks with her fiancé along the Chicago lakefront, and spending time with family, especially her nephew and goddaughter.

School/Districts Alerts

24-25 Student Supply Lists
Supply lists for the 2024-2025 school year can be found here.
24-25 Homeroom Assignments
Student homeroom assignments will be shared with parents/guardians at the end of the day on Monday, August 12. If you do not receive a message by 7pm on 8/12, please call the office the next day.
24-25 Bus Transportation
All requests and payment for transportation were due by August 1 to guarantee transportation for the first day of school.
Requests received after August 1, 2024 will be processed after Labor Day.
Unpaid requests will not be processed until payment is received.
Bus Passes with route information will be mailed to home addresses by mid-August.
New Family Orientation
All new students (incoming 1st graders and move-in) and their families are invited to the New Family Orientation on Monday, August 12, at 5:30 PM. We will meet in the lunchroom and then take a tour of the building while highlighting important information to know for the first day of school.
Hiring - Lunch/Recess Monitors
Open House/Supply Drop Off
We're trying something new this year! Rather than having a curriculum night after the school year starts, we will do an open house/meet the teacher/supply drop off on Thursday, August 22, from 5:00-6:00 PM. Families and students can come in, drop off their supplies before the first day of school, meet their teacher, and learn about all the cool things they will be doing this school year!
Construction at Euclid and Burning Bush
There is sidewalk construction on the corner of Euclid and Burning Bush that could make crossing more difficult. We will have a crossing guard stationed at the corner, but if that is your route, please check it ahead of time and have a plan in place.
Save the Date - Picture Day
First Grade Meet & Greet
Note: This event is for 1st grade students to meet peers in their class prior to the first day of school. 1st grade teachers will not be in attendance.
Back to School Bash
Come celebrate the start of the 24-25 school year! The party will be on the north playground and will have music and plenty of ice cream, water, and raffle tickets for sale.
August PTC Dine & Share Fundraiser - McAlister's Deli
Welcome Back! Our first PTC Dine and Share Fundraiser will be on Thursday, August 29th at McAlister's Deli in Mount Prospect from 4pm-9pm. Be sure to mention Indian Grove and 20% of net sales will be donated back to our PTC. This offer is valid for in store and pick up orders only. Let's start the school year off on the right foot!
