"Success is not just about what you accomplish in your life, but what you inspire others to do"

From Mr. Wingfield
The last week has been very interesting with all the rain, but everyone has done really well just rolling with it. I hope that it has not had a large affect on members of our student body and families. Please let us know if you need anything. Our school is the center of our community and we are always here to help in any way possible.
Please see important message below from our Child Nutrition Department as it pertains to end of year information.
Our NJHS has voted to have a dance to end the year. I know it is last minute, but they thought it would be a great way to end the year. The dance is scheduled to take place on May 18th form 6:00-8:30 in the cafeteria. Entry is $4.00 for advance tickets and $5.00 at the door. Snacks and drinks will be available for $1.00. Only students that attend Normangee Middle School can attend. There will not be pricing for couples. I have already had some questions about dress code. The dress code will still be in force during the dance. Here is some verbiage from the Student Handbook as it could apply to clothing for the dance:
"Clothing should be reasonable and follow accepted community standards for the student’s age group. Clothing should fit, be properly sized, and promote modesty. The following are NOT allowed:
• Sheer or see-through clothing • low-cut necklines (front or back)
• sagging pants/shorts/skirts (must fit at waist) • pajama pants or other sleepwear
• leggings worn alone, yoga pants worn without an over shirt or jacket that appropriately covers the front and rear of the body
• spaghetti strap tops/camisoles/tube tops worn without an appropriate over-shirt or jacket.
• Clothing with any see-through hole, rip or tear above the knees or with a distracting or unsafe hole or tear.
• Skirts, shorts, skorts, or dresses that come any higher than mid-thigh"
Thanks for planning in advance.
I want to emphasize that there is no need to buy any special dresses or suits to attend this dance. We would like for everyone that wants to attend to do so without any expectations to purchase anything extra.
On May 15th, our Athletic Department will be having a physical day for all incoming 7th-12th graders. If you would like your student participating in athletics next year to have a physical, please fill out the paperwork that will be coming home from the Athletics Department on Monday, May 6th, as well as the online forms on the Athletics Google Classroom. Physicals will cost $20 and will be performed during the school day. If you have any questions please contact Coach Mitchell at 936-245-2718.
8th Graders planning to attend the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony, the dress code will be the same as last year. Please wear something that is Sunday Dress and nice. Boys will once again be able to wear nice jeans instead of khaki pants or slacks. Please no hats, shorts, or t-shirts.
The new Bus Right program went online last week and the transportation department will be slowly integrating students into the program. Please see the information below in order to download the app.
If you have moved out of the district or your student(s) are currently transfer student at NISD, you must have your transfer paperwork for next year turned in to the district by this Friday at end of day if you would like to remain enrolled at NISD. If you need the paperwork sent to you, please contact Mrs. Kelly at dkelly@normangeeisd.org or Mrs. Frederick at sfrederick@normangeeisd.org. Thanks
We will once again be having an 8th grade slide show at our 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony. We are requesting 3 images of your student that we can play during the ceremony. Please send images to Mrs. Frederick at sfrederick@normangeeisd.org. Thanks
Please look at every section below in order to get updates on events and/or any other pertinent information regarding Normangee MS and NISD.
In an effort to continually keep our students and campus safe, all parents will need to physically enter the building in order to check out your child for any reason. We will pull your child out of class when you arrive and have gone through the check-out procedures. Thanks for your cooperation.
If there is any other information you would like to receive through the MS Newsletter, please feel free to email me at jwingfield@normangeeisd.org
As always, if I can help in any way please let me know.
Jared Wingfield

Capturing Kids Hearts May Lessons
In May we will focus on Integrity and finishing the year the right way. Sometimes after STAAR and close to Summer, we can lose sight of what we have worked on all year, doing things the right way! We will continue to be intentional about finishing strong, the right way!
From the Bus Barn-New Bus Management System-Bus Right
The Transportation Department is in the process of changing over a new Bus Management System called Bus Right. This system will enhance student safety, streamline bus communication, and manage routes at the touch of a button. A GPS system will track the bus on it's route and provide real time information to parents, administrators and route drivers. Parents will have peace of mind receiving drop off and pick up information before and after school. The system should be online soon. In the meantime, below is the information needed to download the app. Once you set it up on your phone, the app will automatically start giving you information when the transportation department has it up and running. We will let you know when that happens.
