Happy May!
This month we will be finishing up our guidance lessons with making good decisions, problem solving, and summer safety tips. It is very important to allow children to have a say in some decisions to help them develop critical thinking skills. These skills will help them later in life to make the best choices and be the best versions of themselves. We will also be talking about summer safety tips that include stranger danger, and water safety. We have had a great year in guidance, and I hope we can all have a great summer.
It is bittersweet to announce that I have accepted a position as a middle school counselor with the Syracuse/Dunbar/Avoca school System for the fall. It has always been my goal to find a job closer to my family in Southwest Iowa. This opportunity will put me much closer to them. With that said, I am very grateful for Homer and the wonderful community of people I have met here. Iβd like to say a huge thank you to you all in helping me grow on my journey as I step into my next chapter. It has been a pleasure to work with each of you and serve these amazing kiddos. I wish Homer Schools nothing but the best in the future.
Thank you again!
Maryn Phillips
