Students In Action
Women In Leadership Conference
Each year, Connecticut high schools are able to send fifteen students to the CIAC Women In Leadership Conference. We had an incredible group attend to represent New Fairfiedl on Thursday, 5/23 at Berlin High School.
The conference focused how dynamic individual leadership builds community and shared purpose and contributes to positive personal growth and change in our schools and communities. Students were inspired and motivated to further develop their own leadership skills and talents!
Thank you to Mrs. Scappaticci and Mrs. Badger for chaperoning this group of current and future leaders!
NFHS was represented at the conference by Natalie Flynn, Trinity Smith, Anne Johnston, Addison Pilner, Katie McMorrow, Peyton Roemer, Isabel Marotta, Abigail Fritzsche, Emily Taylor, Nicole Taylor, Morganne Hill, Emilia Sedlak, Isabella DaSilva, Sara Braun, and Tanaya Eastwood
Theater Program Honors at the Halo Awards
On May 29th our theater students attended the Halo Awards in Waterbury, CT to be recognized for our theatrical productions this year. Schools from across the state participated, with Halos judges attending performances, selecting nominees for a variety of categories, and then announcing the award winners at the beautiful Palace Theater in Waterbury this week. Basically, it's the Tony Awards for CT High School Theater!
For our productions this year, the fall play "Much Ado About Nothing" and the spring musical "Matilda", our students received a total of SIXTEEN nominations, and last night took home THREE of the awards! Both of these statistics are a record for our theater program! Additionally, "Much Ado About Nothing" was nominated for Best Classical Play, and "Matilda" was nominated for Best Contemporary Musical - a tremendous point of pride for all students involved and for our whole theater program!
Much-deserved congratulations to these talented and hard-working students! We are also appreciative of the efforts of Mrs. Smith, Mr. Gadwah and Mrs. Sbano for creating an environment for our students to thrive!
