Showcase
I’d like to begin by thanking the Year 1 and 2 teachers for their hard work putting together this week’s ‘Junior Showcase’ evenings. It is always a community highlight, and often the first major opportunity for many of the children to appear onstage in the spotlight, which never fails to result in great excitement for all concerned.
The Year 2 show follows this evening, which I have no doubt will be every bit as memorable as last night!
Softball Zones Success
Congratulations also go to all of our Softball Zones team participants, who put in an outstanding performance earlier this week, winning 1st Place (girls) and 3rd Place (boys) overall. It was a tough competition, but one in which they showed characteristic determination and camaraderie.
Thanks to Karen, our Sports Coordinator, and also Dom Reed, for all their time and efforts preparing the children for a great competition.
Next week brings our Athletics events, which parents are welcome to attend if they are able to. If you are available to help, please also volunteer via the HERO sign-up app.
Class Placements 2025
As you will be aware, another important task that we prepare for this term is to draft Class Placements for next year. This process involves teachers recording key information (academic and social), and the whole team working collaboratively to ensure we achieve the best possible balance, with a particular focus on:
Gender
Student needs
Social and emotional factors
While we appreciate that friendships can be of particular interest in placements for obvious reasons, our focus is on learning and we do take time to ask the children to name other students who they know they learn well with. Ultimately, it is also important that children have new opportunities, connections and experiences as they move through year levels, so change can actually be of genuine benefit.
Unfortunately, this means we are not able to consider any parent requests for individual teachers or friendships/groups.
If there are other factors we may not currently be aware of, however, we ask you to make a note of them using the form below. Please note that this form is intended typically for extenuating circumstances and/or new information we may need to be aware of (rather than personal preferences). We request that you please complete the form no later than Friday, 15th December.
Once this process is completed, confirmation will be sent with our Term 4 Achievement Reports.
Morning drop-off times
A reminder that children are not to arrive/be dropped off at school before 8.15 am.
Between 8.15 and 8.30, please make sure you remind them that there are required to wait outside the school hall by the flagpole until the 8.30 bell - no playing on the fields or playgrounds unsupervised before 8.30am.
If you need to drop your child off earlier than 8.15am for any reason, they must be enrolled in SKiDs before-school care.

Thank you to all the teachers who danced the hour away with the children. PTA Roles 2025 - Can you help??
We have important PTA roles that we need to fill for 2025 - can you help?? Email us: menpspta@gmail.com if you have any questions or are interested in these roles. Thank you!
PTA CO-TREASURER
We have two wonderful treasurers who support the PTA. One role covers day to day treasury logistics (eg banking and eftpos administration). We are looking for someone to take over the second treasury role, which is more accounting focused.
The role involves:
- Co-authorising bank payments
- Completing monthly bank reconciliations
- Completing annual financial statements and lodging them on the Charities Services website
- Occasionally issuing invoices to sponsors
Time commitment is approx an hour per month, plus a couple more hours at year end to do the financial statements. Basic accounting knowledge will be necessary, but it's not complicated if you are familiar with book-keeping. We use MYOB which is super intuitive. Because you can choose when you complete the monthly tasks, this role is a great way to contribute to the school if you have a basic understanding of accounting and a bit to juggle in your schedule.
If you are interested in the role or you have any questions, please email us: menpspta@gmail.com.
PTA NEWSLETTER
Can you be the next author of this PTA section of the newsletter?? This is an easy role to assist the PTA and get to know the full range of PTA events/initiatives. This role could be job-shared if you want to partner with one or more people. Any questions - email menpspta@gmail.com!
