Welcome to the 2024.25 school year! We have a lot of fun activities sponsored by our PTO and Student Council, so please make sure to read all communication being sent to you through Blackboard Messenger and my monthly newsletter.

I look forward to having an outstanding year of learning opportunities for you child(ren) here at the Traditional Academy at Bellair. The staff and I continue to strive to help our students grow academically and socially in a positive manner.

If you would like to volunteer in your child's classroom, or go on any field trips, you must go through Volunteer Training. We will be having Volunteer Training in room 608 @4:30 on the following dates:

All Things E.Q. Program for all students - A social-emotional program that transforms school culture and prepares students to “show up” positively for themselves and one another to achieve academic success and social-emotional well-being. The First Quarter we will be working on the following:

• Week of August 5th - My day depends on me!
• Week of August 12th - Are my thoughts helping or hurting me?
• Week of August 19th - I am always communicating through my body language.
• Week of August 26th - I show up positively for myself and the people around me.
• Week of September 3rd - I am kind to the people I am with right now.
• Week of September 9th - I am willing to introduce myself and get to know new people.
• Week of September 16th - I don't trade what I want most for what I want now.
• Week of September 23rd - I am a productive team member.
• Week of September 30th - I don't brag because I am happy with myself.

During our Early Release/PD Dates teachers will be reviewing student data and collaboratively working together to plan how to best support students throughout the school year.

Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) is an evidence-based, tiered framework for supporting students’ behavioral, academic, social, emotional, and mental health. When implemented with fidelity, PBIS improves social emotional competence, academic success, and school climate. It also improves teacher health and wellbeing. It is a way to create positive, predictable, equitable and safe learning environments where everyone thrives. We use ‘students’ to refer to all children and youth in any educational or therapeutic setting (e.g., K-12 school, early childhood program, treatment program, juvenile justice program). Our new PBIS Acronym is S.O.A.R. Silverhawks show Safety, Ownership, Achievement and Respect. Please help us to instill these behaviors at home, so we can all "S.O.A.R. to #Extraordinary Heights Together!"
