Momentum!
Greetings Webber Elementary Students and Parents,
We are really getting into the swing of things now! Our fundamental goal as a system includes creating a positive environment and a culture for learning. School is a place where students should feel welcomed - the classroom a place where they feel a sense of belonging. Learning can be hard work and even frustrating at times. When students assume their role as learners and put forth a strong effort, we know that achievement can be realized. I'm pleased to report we are making great progress on those fronts, attributed to the hard work of our students and staff. Thank you.
Learning is also fun - we are an elementary school after all! Certainly, laughter, joy, and smiles are not in short supply around here. Those are all telltales, indications that we are celebrating success and achieving the goals described above.
Speaking of FUN, the Webber PTO is hosting "Movie Night" on Sunday, September 22 at Wildwood Ampitheatre. Gates open at 5:00 p.m. and the movie will begin at 5:30 p.m. Donations are accepted for admission. Next Wednesday, September 25, we have Picture Day here at Webber. See the flyer and additional information in this week's newsletter.
This Sunday is also the Autumn Equinox, the "official" start of fall. Of course, we've been enjoying warmer-than-average temperatures of late. That said, be sure that students are bringing appropriate outerwear clothing so they can be comfortable when we begin experiencing colder temperatures.
If the Lions get back into the win column, we'll rock our gear on Monday!
Also, please remember to communicate with the Webber staff (classroom teacher) when your child is going to be absent, including an email to Lyla Dyer (lyla.dyer@lok12.org).
Thank you so much for your support. Have a wonderful weekend.

SAEBRS / mySAEBRS Screening Tool
Parents - For students in grades first through fifth, Lake Orion Community Schools utilize the Social, Academic, and Emotional Behavior Risk Screener (SAEBRS). The screener is valuable for collecting trend data and assessing individual student needs. The screening window will run from 10/7 to 10/11. For more information regarding SAEBRS, please review the letter provided below.
Webber - Drop Off and Pick Up Procedures (Parents Driving)
Thank you for following the procedures that have been communicated previously. We encourage pick-ups to be conducted in the loop and parents should remain in their vehicle. If you are utilizing the lower parking lot, be mindful that our overflow traffic "snakes" through the lot. Be patient and wait for traffic to clear before attempting to back out. Those following the designed traffic pattern have priority. Procedures provided if you would like to review.

Staff Recognition - Distinguished Dragon
Throughout the school year, if you would like to recognize a staff member from Webber, we encourage you to submit a Distinguished Dragon nomination. The intent of the Distinguished Dragon program is to ensure that staff members who go above and beyond their regular duties are appreciated. The additional effort or support can range from helping an individual to helping a group or any effort that seems worthy of praise.
The staff member can be nominated by a student, parent, community member or a colleague by completing the form at LakeOrionSchools.org/DistinguishedDragon. We ask for the submitter's name and contact information to follow up with specific questions if necessary. Please make sure to select the appropriate school/department form so the message is routed in the proper direction.
Please complete the form entirely so the individual can be appropriately honored for their contributions.
