Morning Procedures
In order to make sure our teachers can begin instruction right at 8:15, it is imperative that students are lined up at 8:12 when the first bell rings. Parents- please begin to exit the school campus once the first bell rings at 8:12 as our goal is to have all the gates locked by 8:15 to start the school day. Please note that teachers are not available for long conversations at the door right at the start of school. If you would like to speak with your child's teacher, please contact them directly to schedule a time to meet. Thank you for your understanding as we want to make sure that we are maximizing each instructional day for our students.
Hispanic Heritage Month 9/15-10/15
We are proud and excited to celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month here at Aspen. Our students are learning about the history, cultures, traditions, and contributions of those who can trace their roots to Spain, Mexico, and the Spanish-speaking countries of Central America, South America, and the Caribbean. The annual celebration is observed from September 15 to October 15. Hispanic heritage, history and contributions are deeply woven throughout the past, present, and future of the United States. Around 1/5 of the US population is Hispanic. And in California over 14 million people are Hispanic or Latino.
September is Attendance Awareness Month!
We’re excited to highlight Attendance Awareness Month in September! This month is dedicated to emphasizing the crucial role that regular attendance plays in a student's success. Consistent school attendance helps students build good habits, maintain academic progress, and strengthen their social connections.
Here are a few key points to consider:
Every Day Counts: Even a few missed days can add up and affect your child’s learning. Encourage your child to attend school daily and be on time.
Stay Engaged: Be involved in your child’s education by regularly checking their homework and communicating with their teacher. This helps us all stay informed about their progress and any challenges they might be facing.
Address Issues Early: If your child is struggling with school for any reason—be it academic, social, or health-related—please reach out to us. We’re here to support and provide resources to help overcome any obstacles.
Celebrate Success: Let’s celebrate good attendance and the achievements that come with it. Acknowledge and praise your child’s commitment to being present and engaged.
Your support is vital in helping our students succeed. Together, we can foster an environment where regular attendance is a shared priority and a celebrated achievement.

Parking Lot Safety
The following guidelines will assist us in keeping our students safe in the parking lot:
- Proceed in the Aspen parking lot at no more than 5 miles per hour.
- Walk with your child across the parking lot using the marked crosswalk.
- Do not allow your child to walk unattended between cars.
- Stay in the right hand lane, move all the way forward, and drop your student off from the right side of the vehicle.
- Never leave your vehicle unattended in the drive-thru lanes.
- Follow the California Vehicle Code laws.
- Remind your child to respect people’s property.
Consider the following:
- You may pull up to the curb at the front of the school to drop off your student.
- You may park on the street on Oberlin or Marlowe and walk your student on campus.
- Please do not block driveways.
- Be mindful of labeled No Parking zones near the crosswalks.
- The gates at the front of the school will be open for entry and exit. There will not be access through the gate on Marlowe.
- Arrange with your student ahead of time a location for pickup.
Attendance
School Meals
Breakfast and Lunch meals for the 2024-2025 school year will be available to all students at no charge. A la Carte items will be offered for purchase at recess. Online payments are encouraged using your Parent Connect Portal at conejo.vcoe.org. In Parent Connect you are able to monitor your students’ a la cart purchases. Although all students will receive meals at no charge again this school year it is very important for parents or guardians, to complete and submit this Online Free / Reduced Meal Eligibility for School Year 2024-2025 form as soon as possible, as this form affects a variety of areas unrelated to school meals, including school funding and more. Even if your child does not plan to eat school meals, it is important to fill out this form to help ensure our schools and families receive the available resources. More information is available on the CVUSD website (www.conejousd.org–Departments–Child Nutrition Services).
