MINISTRY EXAMS JUNE 2024
Please note the following dates for Ministry exams in Grade 6, Secondary 4-5.
All students MUST be present for Ministry exams. The reasons accepted to excuse absences during a ministry exam are:
- Serious illness or accident confirmed by a medical certificate
- Decease of a parent or close relative
- Summons to court
- Participation in a major event (an authorization from Sanction des études must be granted beforehand)
In case of an absence in secondary 4-5, the exam will be rewritten in July.
Grade 6
ELA exam: May 23rd, May 24th and May 27th
Math exam: June 11th, 12th and 13th

Reading With Your Child At Home

Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal
On April 6th, Joseph-Antoine Morand (secondary 5) received the Lieutenant Governor’s Youth Medal. Joseph-Antoine obtained this medal for showing an inspiring attitude, being a positive influence in his group and for his academic achievements.
High School Students Send Letters to Children Battling Illness
After reading the novel Oscar et la dame rose in French class, Secondary 4 students wrote letters of hope and sent them to sick children at Sainte-Justine Hospital.
Suite à la lecture du roman Oscar et la dame rose dans le cadre du cours de français, les élèves de secondaire 4 ont écrit des lettres d'espoir qu'ils ont envoyées à des enfants malades de l'hôpital Sainte-Justine.
Performing Arts Festival in Quebec City
Each year, high school students can participate in the CQSB Performing Arts Festival. On April 15th, students participated in a variety of workshops related to arts.
ASJ Alumni Game
The Alumni game took place on Thursday, March 28th at our school. The girls started their game and finished in the dark because of the power outage. The electricity didn't stop the Falcons from playing! The boys started the game in the dark and Mr. Martineau brought spotlights to allow the game to end. A big thank you to everyone who came and participated! We raised $350 for our sports teams.
Grade 1 Authors
Ms. Reid's grade 1 students worked hard for 6 weeks on their class book. They brainstormed ideas and came up with a topic together. They each wrote a draft of their writing and made an illustration to go with it. This was all sent to a publishing company. Ms. Reid's class are excited to become published authors!
Inter-School Ice Hockey Festival
Grade 3 and 4 boys had the chance to participate in an inter-school hockey tournament on March 11th in East Broughton. With only 6 players and a goalie, they had 3 victories and 1 loss. The boys showed great team spirit!

Secondary 1 Science Project
This is a little video of the project sec. 1 students worked on with Ms. Vincent, their science teacher. It is a Sun-Earth-Moon system made with foam, toothpicks, a rubber band and hot glue.
Cooking for the Community
There was a cooking activity sponsored by the CJE. Students went to the grocery store to buy all ingredients. They cooked 25 individual lasagnas, 1 family-sized lasagna and 20 indivdiual shepard's pies. Most of the food was donated to the Réseau d'entraide. Some of the meals were also donated to students who need a lunch at school.
Catherine Lachance explained that the community fridge is used every day. Extra food donations are stored in a freezer in order to make sure that there is food in the fridge every day. The food was placed in the community fridge for those in need.
Penpal Activity
Grade 1 students in Ms. Reid's class wrote letters to other grade 1 students who attend a First Nation’s school on a reserve in Southwestern Ontario to share information about themselves and their culture and to learn about another culture. The grade ones in Ontario will be writing to them as well!
Astronauts from K4
April 8th was a special day for all. Our students from K4 had the chance to be astronauts for one day!

Volleyball Spirit at ASJ
On April 11th, our boys' volleyball team finished their season by playing one last game against their families and coaches! It was a perfect occasion to inaugurate our new volleyball equipment. Thanks to all the players and their families for the involvement this season! See you next season ! Go Falcons

Leprechaun Villages
As part of an ELA project, the grade 4 students in Ms. Poulin's class built Leprechaun Villages. This was their March project-based learning activity to celebrate St-Patrick's and our school name.

Kitchen Brigade Competitions
The Kitchen Brigades 1/8 finals competition was held at our school on April 16th. Our school brigade finished 4th. Congrats to them all!

Grade 3 ELA project
Grade 3 completed a recipe together. This was part of an ELA project where they had to create an advertisement and students had to choose the peer that convinced them the most. We have good cooks in grade 3!

Friendly Reminder: No Toys at School
Unless a permission is given by a staff member for a special activity, no toys are allowed in school. We have observed some instances of students bringing toys to school and trading/giving these out, leading to various disruptions and conflicts. We kindly request your help to respect the school's policy regarding toys
