Prayer
Advent Prayer
Lord Jesus,
Master of both the light and the darkness, send your Holy Spirit upon our preparations for Christmas.
We who have so much to do and seek quiet spaces to hear your voice each day,
We who are anxious over many things look forward to your coming among us.
We who are blessed in so many ways long for the complete joy of your kingdom.
We whose hearts are heavy seek the joy of your presence.
We are your people, walking in darkness, yet seeking the light.
To you we say, "Come Lord Jesus!'
Amen
A Note from Mrs. Longden
The greatest moments of history happened when people did the right thing, even in the
face of great opposition. In a world often filled with conflicting messages and societal pressures, our Catholic faith IS our guide. At the heart of the saying, 'Do the right thing regardless of what others might think', is the idea that creating a holy moment is not contingent upon external validation but is, instead, a commitment to living out our faith even in the face of adversity. Jesus himself was no stranger to societal expectations and challenges, yet he demonstrated to us the importance of doing what is right, even when faced with opposition.
In the classroom and on the playground, our students are presented with countless opportunities to make choices that reflect our Catholic values. It could be standing up to those that are unkind to others, choosing kindness over gossip, or helping a classmate in need. These seemingly small decisions have the power to change ordinary moments into Holy Moments, as they are infused with the love and compassion that Jesus taught us.
Tips to Create This Holy Moment of 'Do the right thing regardless of what others might think':
-Unfollow any pages or people on social media who stand for unholy moments.
-Focus during class, work, or Mass, even if other people aren’t.
-Choose not to gossip and speak kindly about others instead.
Blessings,
Mrs. Longden

DECEMBER VIRTUE
SELF-CONTROL
Saint: St. Perpetua
Aspiration: Come Holy Spirit, increase in me the Gift of Fear of the Lord
Meaning: Joyful mastery over one's passions and desires
Prayer: Dear Jesus, Thank You for all the desires You have given me, because they remind me of the desire in my heart that only You can fill! Help me to control my tongue when I am supposed to be silent; my hands when I am supposed to keep them to myself; my eyes when I am supposed to be focused on a particular person or thing; and my ears to listen to only those things I am supposed to hear.
Scripture: 2 Timothy 1:6-7
Opposing Trait: Being excessive in words or actions, acting impulsively
Ways to Cultivate: Mastery of one's desires; practice restraint in regards to words and actions.
Looks Like/Sounds Like: Listen to others while they speak; do not interrupt. "I will raise my hand before I speak". Control your reactions when you feel angry or frustrated. Fast; restrain yourself from saying or doing everything you desire. Practice restraint in words and actions.
Catholic Social Teaching - Rights and Responsibilities - Every person has a fundamental right to life and to those things required for human dignity. Corresponding to these rights are duties and responsibilities to one another, to our families, to society at large.

Home and School Information
Welcome back!
This year's Wreath and Poinsettia fundraiser was a wonderful success! THANK YOU for your support. We raised just under $5,300 (up roughly $1,300 from last year!), which will be put right into hosting Home and School events, blessing our teachers with appreciation gifts throughout the year, and saving for future ways to help out with improvements around the school. We hope that the beautiful greens are enjoyed by all who received them!
FINAL CALL! PLEASE consider signing up to help out for an hour with the Cookie Walk THIS Sunday, December 8th. The time frame is 1:00-4:00 and the shifts are broken into 1 hour periods. Our table will be INSIDE (so don't worry about the cold!) All that is required is to pop a cookie into each box that passes through and stamp the WILEY stamp of approval. Speaking of which, Wiley will be hanging out and repping our school spirit! Thank you in advance for your time!

EMMAUS 90
The Faith Formation committee is on a mission for souls. They are looking for 100 people willing to take an ADVENTURE and see what God has planned for them in the first few months of 2025. The cost of the Emmaus 90 adventure is $10 per person and runs from January 20-April 20, 2025. The commitment of time is only 10-30 minutes per day (each person decides their level of commitment). The group is encouraging all to walk the adventure, either alone, with a friend or with a family member in order to grow in faith, love and purpose.
Each person will receive a book for the journey (distribution will take place in mid to late December) and will have access to weekly videos to help them in their encounter.

A NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM
A NIGHT IN BETHLEHEM is returning to The Random Lake community on Friday, December 6, from 4 pm to 7 pm. The event will be held at Our Lady of the Lakes in Random Lake 306 Butler Street ( former St. Mary's School building) and is part of the village’s “Night of Lights.” You are invited to experience the sights, sounds, smells, and flavors of Bethlehem at the time of Jesus’s birth. You might meet a Roman soldier as you gather to sign the census, as Mary and Joseph did more than 2,000 years ago. See the aged rabbi at the temple, as the elders come to pray and study. The marketplace will reenact the commerce of the day, with a spice tent, baker’s tent, pottery, fabric makers, and a carpenter. A school will also be in session. Watch carefully for shepherds and wise men as they search out the Baby Jesus. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Julie Binder at 920-889-1223.
We were featured last year in the Catholic Herald. It was a wonderful event where people could step back in time and promote the true meaning of Christmas.
