Happy New Year!
Hello all!
Hope 2017 is off to a great start for you! According to the Chinese calendar this is the Year of the Rooster!
Despite some analyses that indicate that the Rooster is depicted as a fire hungry, war monger suggesting that disasters and hardship are inevitable for 2017 (I guess that explains a few things), one characteristic of the rooster that I admire, however, is its ability to be the first to rise in the mornings to seize the day.
I'd like APS to be the rooster for school districts! Don't get me wrong, here, I think that 2017 is our year, where all of our Green Star Schools rise to the occasion and take the opportunity to work together to make our district as sustainably-driven and environmentally friendly as possible.
Our students have certainly made the case for many things in their schools that they would like to see change. From food waste diversion to energy conservation, our students continue to lead the charge for our district and community.
So, here's to 2017! Cock-a-doodle-do!
On a side note, I'm also a die hard Liverpool Football Club supporter and their mascot is a rooster, so maybe this is finally our year for a championship!!)
It would be great to have you and your school on board with us to kick off the Green Star Schools Program this year! Please see below for our meeting next week!
Here's is to another great year of going green at APS! I look forward forward to working with you and your students!
Best,
Julie
