Rocky Point Weekend Update
October 7 - October 11, 2024
Fall is in the air!
Curriculum & Title I Night
A sincere appreciation to all families who took time out of your busy schedules to join us this past week for our Annual Title 1 and Curriculum Event. For the families that were unable to attend, we will be sending home the information missed with your child this week as our way of telling you that we missed you and the information you missed was important.
Safety is Our Number One Priority
This past week we had a few bus drivers express safety concerns in regards to families parking in the bus parking lot and having students freely walking through the lot in the morning. With this in mind, we are requesting for all families to utilize one of the two options for morning arrival. Please either utilize our parent drop-off line at the front of the school or have your child ride the bus. Our students’ safety is of our utmost importance. Thank you for your understanding with this request.
Calling All Artists! We Need a Yearbook Cover!
If your child is interested in submitting an artistic entry for the cover of this year’s yearbook, please have them do so prior to the deadline for submissions on Friday, October 25th. If you have any questions, please reach out to Mrs. Black, our music teacher, at laura_black@pender.k12.nc.us. Details for the contest are included in this link, Yearbook Cover Art Contest.
Fall Events - Hispanic Heritage Night & Trunk or Treat
Planning for our annual community Hispanic Heritage event is well under way. Again, this event will be held on Friday, October 25th at Rocky Point Elementary School from 5:00 - 8:00pm. Thank you to all students and families that have already responded and showed interest in participating in the dances and being food vendors. If you have further questions, please email all questions to Adriana Perez at adriana_perez@pender.k12.nc.us or give her a call at the school.
Our PTO is also asking for donations of water, juice boxes, soda and candy to be used at this event.
The Titan Leadership Committee at Heide Trask Senior High School is planning their first annual Trunk-or-Treat event. They are inviting our students and their families. This community event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, October 30th from 5 pm to 7 pm.
Mobile Dental Clinic
The Mobile Dental clinic will be on the Rocky Point Elementary campus available to see students and families beginning tomorrow, Monday September 30th through October 18th. Simply return the form sent home with your child to have your visit scheduled with the Mobile Dental Clinic.
PCS Month of Awareness
October is Pender County Schools’ Month of Awareness. Please see the 2024 Month of Awarenss calendar and social media posts as we kick off the month of awareness this week with Mental Health Awareness Week. Each year, millions of American families face the reality of living with a mental health condition directly or indirectly through family, friends, and co-workers. Wear GREEN this week to support Mental Health Awareness!
Join Our PTO!
Again, our Parent Teacher Organization is looking for more volunteers to join our school’s organization. If you are interested in joining or have any questions, please contact Meredith Nance via email at Rockypointpto@gmail.com or Jessica Roman at jessicam_roman@pender.k12.nc.us.
Quote of the Week
