Kia ora koutou,
We're wrapping up term one at Inglewood Primary School, and I'm so proud of our tamariki and the hard work of our staff.
Years 0-3 Highlights:
The newly installed water and mud play area in the Panitahi playground has been a resounding success! Our youngest learners have embraced the sensory exploration, developing their creativity and social skills while enjoying messy play.
Our new math resources engage our tamariki with mathematical concepts through hands-on activities, proving that learning can be fun and effective.
The junior swimming carnival was a hit! The focus on pool games significantly boosted water confidence among our junior students, setting a strong foundation for future swimming skills.
Years 4-6 Highlights:
The swimming carnival was a highlight, fostering teamwork and healthy competition.
Our Garden to Table project has blossomed into a culinary adventure! Students have demonstrated exceptional skills in harvesting fresh produce from our school gardens and transforming it into café-quality dishes. This hands-on experience has taught them valuable life skills and fostered a love for healthy eating. Many thanks to our wonderful support staff, Chad and Astrid, who share their expertise with our tamirkik.
Years 7-8 Highlights:
The Wellington camp was an excellent experience for our senior students. They bravely stepped outside their comfort zones, embraced new challenges, and created lasting memories.
The introduction of golf lessons has been a fantastic addition to our extracurricular activities, providing students with a unique opportunity to develop new skills.
School-Wide Successes:
The House of Science kits have ignited a passion for scientific exploration across all year levels. Students have been captivated by the engaging experiments and hands-on learning experiences, enabling a deeper understanding of scientific concepts.
Looking Ahead to Next Term:
We are excited to celebrate Puanga next term!. Further details regarding events and activities will be shared early in term 2.
Our dedicated kaiako are diligently working to implement the new literacy and numeracy curriculums, ensuring our students receive a high-quality education that prepares them for future success.
A Note of Appreciation:
I want to express my sincere gratitude to our school whānau and volunteers for their unwavering support. Your partnership is essential to our school's success. Also, a big shout out to our Parent-Link group, who have worked tirelessly to bring the ‘Movie Night” to our community. Please come along on Saturday to support this fundraiser. Finally, many thanks to the staff for their tireless efforts to ensure our tamariki are happy, connected and learning.
There is one week until the holidays, so have a wonderful break with your children. We look forward to seeing all our children back to school on 28 April.
Ngā mihi nui,
Juliet Vickers

New Football Goals
Inglewood Primary School was lucky enough to apply and be successful in receiving a grant at the end of last year. The grant was all thanks to the Aotearoa Gaming Trust and Peggy Gordons who donated to our region. We were granted just over $5,000 to get brand new soccer goals to replace the existing rusted goals. Our tamariki have been super excited to use these new goals and have been showing their REACH values with them. Come down and check them out for yourselves if you haven't already. Please remember to take care of this amazing new equipment, we are very lucky to have them! A huge shout out to all the staff who helped apply for the grant and set up the goals, you rock!

ParentLink News
Movie Night - Inglewood Primary School ParentLink are holding an Outdoor Movie Night on Saturday 5 April. There will be two movies - 4pm Moana 2 and 7pm Top Gun Maverick. Food and drinks will be available at the event. Tickets are available to purchase from the school office by either cash or eftpos. Prices per movie $10 Adults 14+, $5 Children, $30 Family (2 adults & up to 3 children with additional child $2). The scaffolding is up and ready to go for our Outdoor Movie night on Saturday night! The weather is looking good and we can't wait to see you all here.
Tickets will also be available to purchase before each movie starts.
To make this event a success we need your help as the Parentlink group is a small number of people (only about 6 parents). Below is a spreadsheet with jobs and timeslots. If you can help, please write your name on the spreadsheet so that we are able to run the event.
Easter Raffle: Easter is nearly upon us again, and the ParentLink Committee thought it would be a great idea to hold an Easter Raffle, as the Christmas one is so popular. We ask that each family donate ONE Easter item to the Easter Raffle Basket. A box will be placed at the office for your kind donations. The more items we donate, the better the prize will be, and you could win. If you require any more raffle sheets, please see the school office.
Please like our IPS ParentLink page to keep updated with fundraising events and meetings.
This is a fabulous group of parents supporting our school.

HERO App - Student Management System
We are delighted to launch our new communication and reporting system, Hero: an online sharing platform with a complementary smart app.
https://our-hero.com/parent-guide
Hero allows schools to customise an online environment that enables teachers, students, and families to view and share content anytime, anywhere on any device. The software is secure, easy to use and brings together all school-related information in one place.
With Hero, you have the ability to:
Read and comment on posts relating to your child’s learning.
View information on your child’s progress & goals.
Read and comment on school notices sent to the class or groups your child is part of.
Respond to school notices such as surveys and trip permission requests. View school term dates and calendar.
Notify the school if your child is absent or late.
Navigate to other school-related webpages.
Customise your account by adding a profile image.
Select how you wish to receive notifications.
Learning posts combined with syllabus information and goal-setting will form an online report that is designed to build year-on-year.
Over time, you will have access to written posts, images, video, work samples, and helpful resources all in one place.
Over the coming year, staff and students will be posting rich content to our Hero software. We are looking forward to sharing this with you, including you in your child’s learning journey.
