Upcoming School Events & Celebrations
Upcoming Community Events & Celebrations
Celebrate Your Favorite RPS Staff Members with RPS Shines!
RPS Shines is an annual event dedicated to celebrating the amazing talents and tremendous contributions of RPS’ dedicated educators. At the event, hosted by the Richmond Ed Fund, the RPS presents seven Division-level awards: Teacher of the Year, New Teacher of the Year, School Support Staff Team Member of the Year, Central Office Team Member of the Year, Principal of the Year, the Lucille Brown Impact Award, and the Rodney Robinson Equity in Education Award. Teachers and staff are nominated by their building or by the community, and invited to submit an application. Winners are selected, based on their application materials, by RPS Leadership.
This year’s event will be held May 2, 2025, at the Dewey Gottwald Center. It is invitation-only. We look forward to celebrating with our nominees that evening!
Staff may not self-nominate, and examples of clear/coordinated campaigning will result in investigation and possible disqualification. Each email address may only submit one nomination per award.
Schools and Offices will be asked to vote for finalists via Google Form from January 6-13, 2025.
Semi-finalists will be notified by January 20, and will be asked to submit a short written or video application, including a letter of recommendation. Finalists who choose not to do so will still receive their building- or Office-level honors, but will not be eligible for the divisionwide award.
