AL Canvas Page
Please share the Academic Lab Canvas page
with your AL students on Tuesday, September 3.
Academic Lab is valuable time that we have with students during the school week to promote many different initiative in our school.
Samantha has created an Academic Lab Canvas template for you all to use. Samantha made a short video explaining the components of the template and how to use it.
We will use this AL Canvas page to push out things such as surveys, digital citizenship, Naviance, bullying, and #saysomething.

Energy Audit 8/25/19
Good job by staff for early in the school year.
Three computers on.
Ten monitors on.
One personal printer on.
Two sets of speakers on.
Ten unoccupied power strips on.
Good start but some need to improve areas. Our only way to counter rate hikes is more efficient use of power.
American Fidelity
Shawn will be at ENHS September 20, and 23-26.
Shawn Shepherd, our account manager from American Fidelity, will be visiting the buildings in September. The point of the visit is the American Fidelity product open enrollment period for the 2020 plan year that is offered as a fringe benefit. This open enrollment period is your opportunity to speak with Shawn or an American Fidelity rep about products such as: flex spending accounts, annuities, and supplemental benefits such as life insurance, cancer insurance, accident insurance, or critical illness policies. Any benefits you chose or changes you make to the American Fidelity products during the open enrollment period will become effective on January 1, 2020. Deductions for these products begin in January 2020.
New for 2020:
Flexible Spending Accounts will be managed by American Fidelity, not AGA.
The new American Fidelity phone app with greater direct access to your American Fidelity products
Who is eligible?
All East Noble employees who work 20 hours or more per week. All employees working 20 hours or more per week must meet with the representative.
What is the “Section 125 Cafeteria Plan”?
A Cafeteria Plan is an employee benefits program designed to take advantage of Section 125 of the Internal Revenue Code. Section 125 allows you to select from a variety of eligible benefits that allow you to deduct premiums from gross earnings before taxes are computed. This gives you more spendable income because current after-tax expenses, such as insurance premiums and benefits, can be paid for with pre-tax dollars.

Special Education News
We will be trying something different for accommodation sign-offs this trimester. This will give teachers more information on the special education students they serve as well as streamline the process for the teacher of record.
- Step 1: Teachers of students with IEP’s will receive emails from the teacher of record for each student. This email will have an “IEP at a Glance” attached.
- Step 2: Read and take note of the students testing AND classroom accommodations. Relevant behavior information will also be included. It may be helpful to create a folder in Outlook to drag these emails into, so they are kept together and organized.
- Step 3: Once read, respond to the teacher of record by returning their original email. It is important that you respond to the original email, this creates the “paper trail” that we are required to keep.
You will receive your emails on Wednesday August 21st. The deadline for responding to the email is August 30th.

STAFF LOUNGE INPUT
From Chad Moore--
Our staff lounge could use some updates. It has a bit of a 1992 PowerPoint exciting kinda vibe going on and I think it could be improved. I have talked it over with just a few people but want to get input from everyone before I start in on it. If you have a chance, I would like some feedback on a few items. I made a survey, but if I missed something or you have another idea just email me back. Here is the survey link: https://forms.gle/RW2DK84zTR2GxBaL9
Call 5 Parents
Academic Lab Teachers--
Please reach out and call 5 parents of your AL students personally and invite them to parent/teacher conferences on September 12th.

PowerSchool - Marking Assignments and Class Descriptions
Samantha sent you an email on August 19th with important information!
This email contains two things:
- Instructions on where/how to apply the asterisk symbol to an assignment you are no longer accepting
- Instructions on how to add a class description if you use weighted categories.
The asterisk symbol is to be added in front of the assignment names in PowerTeacher Pro. The guide is attached.
If you use category weighting in your grades, you need to put that information under the class description in PowerSchool. This shows parents how grades are calculated – so if they assume your grade is by total points, and they do the math, it would be off. In addition you might add a statement that says, “Any assignment marked by an * is no longer being accepted for late turn-in.” This video will show you how to add that class description: https://drive.google.com/file/d/0Bz7aiLBWy1pQdFdnUUtLa241cDQ/view

Performance Qualified Days APPROVED by School Board!
CONGRAUTLATIONS!
This will be part of the letter that I am sending home to ENHS parents to make them aware of the high school student days off.
This past February, East Noble High School was designated by the Indiana Department of Education as a Performance Qualified High School for the 2019-2020 school year. ENHS earned this distinction because it has been rated as an “A” school for the past two years. This means that East Noble High School will be allowed flexibility with the number of days high school students attend during the 2019-2020 school year. Normally, a high school student will attend 180 student instructional days. However, East Noble High School is now eligible to exercise flexibility around the instructional day requirements as long as the total number of instructional hours provided to students during the school year meets the required time-frame of 1080 hours.
As a staff, our goal is to maintain East Noble High School’s distinguished status and ensure our students are college, career, and life ready. To ensure our teaches are prepared to meet those goals, we plan to utilize this flexibility to provide teachers continued professional development along with time for teachers to evaluate student work and goals that support them as they meet graduation requirements.
East Noble High School students ONLY will have release time with no eLearning and not be attending school on the following days:
High School ONLY No School November 8, 2019
High School ONLY released at 11:25 May 27, 2019
High School ONLY No School May 28, 2019

The VIP ticket is $50 and you get to start your tasting at 4 p.m. (one hour early) and are fed as well.
Please e-mail Stephanie Leasure you are interested in attending and purchasing tickets.
Techie Tuesday !
Students at the MS and HS are now using Chromebooks as their loaner devices when their own student device is being repaired.
Do you know what’s different about these devices? Do you know how to help students turn in work? What if a student needs to use one for testing??
Come to room 203 this coming Tuesday, September 3rd to learn more about navigating the loaner devices – so you can help the students!
1st – 8:00 A.M.
2nd – 9:10 A.M.
3rd – 10:25 A.M.
4th – 12:05 P.M.
5th – 2:00 P.M.
Let's brag!
Steve Garbacz, KPC Media, will print and report on a number of East Noble activities/initiatives/items if we just let him know.
Please think about what is happening in our building that you can share with Steve. We want EN to take up newspaper space! Drop him a note with news or invitations to activities happening in our building :)
