What a great start to the school year it has been at Westside! Thank you for sharing your students with us each day. We have loved getting to know them better and look forward to an amazing year.

In September, our students will take their beginning of the year assessments. These assessments in reading and math help us know where a child is currently in their learning and how we can better assist them moving forward. With the assessment data, our teachers will be able to better tailor the learning to the specific students. Remind your students to do their best, but it is okay if they don't know something yet!

I hope you all enjoyed your summer break. It’s so good to be back with the students! They sure know how to make a person smile. This year we will focus on a different character trait each month. For September, the trait we will be learning about will be respect. We will discuss what it looks like to respect yourself and to respect others. Feel free to ask your child what respect looks like to them.

Red - no drop off or pick-up (other than those using the handicap parking spot located in the staff parking lot)

Blue - drop off and pick-up zone

Green - park and walk your student to their door

We need everyone to fill out the free and reduced lunch application! The results of this form help determine the amount of funding we receive for programs such as Title 1 and All Day Kindergarten. • Lunch and Recess Duty Aide - 12 hours per week
• Resource Room Paraprofessional - 15 hours per week
• English Language Tutor - 19 hours per week

Westside PTO is so excited to welcome everyone back to school! We are excited for the activities we have planned this year and want to thank everyone for stopping by the gym during back to school night and signing up to help with the different activities we have planned. We can’t do it without you!

This year we are planning a Fall Carnival for September 16th. We will be having carnival games, Homestead pizza, snow cones, and cotton candy to purchase. 6th grade will plan on selling drinks to help raise money for their 6th grade party. Look for more information coming soon!
